dfk41 Not at all.
I own both a Lagoom P100 and the Deva.
Espressos? Lagoom wins and on pourovers if compared to the OEM burrs.
Everything else? Deva wins on lattes if using OEM and/or Lab Sweets (The body on this thing is crazy) and pourovers if using the lab sweet burrs.
Edit: This is all subjective btw. Don’t take my word on all coffees but I prefer Natural/Washed Colombians most of the time and abhor anything anaerobic.
As the burr size increases…. it’s not that you won’t get a “better shot” more than a “different shot”.
Not counting the Conical Vs Flat Dilemma.
The 98mm burrs from SSP are usually more clarity oriented and fare poorly in the milk based department. The body is more suited for espressos and americanos where you get near like tea body. Is it worth paying more? That depends on the person.
The 64mm have less clarity but more body. It makes them excellent latte drinks since the body still there and any clarity will be washed away by milk based drinks. However, even in espressos they will be decent and they can be used as a single espresso grinder since they are so versatile. Factor in that they cost 1/3rd of the price of a 98mm in most cases.
Newdent Yup and it works :D. Is it worth it over the P64? That depends on your taste. You can still get misalignment on the deva if you don’t follow the procedure correctly.
