tompoland If a Lance or a James does a taste test and says “heck yeah” then I’ll buy and try. The TDS etc can better but if the taste test is “meh” then my hard earned stays in my pocket.
I’m a LONG way from convinced. Even if Lance or JH can taste the difference, it doesn’t mean I can. I’m using my taste buds not theirs, and unfortunately, there is precisely one way to know if I can taste the difference and moreover, taste enough of a difference, and that is for me to try them. As I’m not forking out that sort of money on that kind of gizmo on speculation, that’ll only happen if someone like Weber were to send me samples to try. I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
As far as I’m concerned, I get what to my taste buds is a pretty good cup of coffee from what I have right now, and the law of diminishing marginal returns and the opportunity cost, given the long list of other things I could spend my hard-earned on means yet more coffee esoterica is a long way down my priority list.
Maybe I’m not as far down the coffee rabbit hole as I could be, but my “pretty good” cuppa is good enough as things stand. I might indulge in a PuqPress at some point, for pragmatic reasons, but beyond that, I’m about done. Let’s say coffee gear manufacturers have reached the point of maximum wallet extraction. 😁
