DavecUK Think I will start making notes now. Loved reading your Vesuvius Evo Lever project

Which coffee is it? Ive heard of some beans just being hard, i had a lsol that ist couldn’t get in with, ended up bining 700g of it.

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

Cuprajake That was an expensive discard. I saw a video of James Hoffmann using some beans from Darkwoods so bought 3 bags. This is the one I am using. They are a medium roast but did not have a roast date which surprised me. Best within the first couple of months on bag and a best before date, which surprised me.

Meldrew You might have resolved it by now but when I got mine I too thought that something was wrong with the display. I was pushing too much and was impatient. From the video you shared I noticed that you use the tip of your thumb and index finger. Given it is capacitance that is responsible for the sensitivity I use not the tip but the inner side of my thumb (larger surface) and rarely have problem.
Beside this niggling issue what has the machine been like so far?

    Any “sweet” shots?

John_Yossarian Thanks John. It has improved somewhat, once you start getting it to work it then works fine mostly all the time. It’s as if it’s has to wake up from a standby mode. But mainly the centre section. I will definitely try what you have suggested.

Meldrew Someone also mentioned that wiping the display with moist fibre cloth might remove any oliy stuff that might interfere with its sensitivity. Warm soapy water on the fibre cloth could also be of use.

I saw the abbey picture, it is amazing to have such a site nearby.

John_Yossarian You must be psychic. Just had an email from Paolo asking me to do wipe the screen with a damp cotton cloth. Just wiped the screen with a damp microfibre cloth and it worked first time in every position. The Abbey is one of a few places we have nearby. We try to visit these places more often now as we can go for shorter but more often as they are so close and with the cssc card my wife has gives us access to these places amongst other benefits. The card cost just short of £5 month but it’s still cheaper than just English Heritage membership for the two of us. It’s a beautiful part of the world here in North Yorkshire.

Meldrew Yup, this mirrors my experience - after the screen has been cleaned it works way better.

Gagaryn I did wipe the screen when you said about it. After this time it seems more responsive. Maybe it’s me.

I received my Vesuvius about ten days ago and have been experiencing the same issues as Meldrew with the touch screen. Making any adjustments took forever, turning off the steam boiler after steaming the milk seemed impossible or a lottery.

Yesterday I read this thread and tried with my thumb and the others fingers resting on the top. The change has been amazing, great improvement so far.

I hope it stays that way.

Caribbean Glad you have seen some improvement with the screen. Paolo just emailed me and asked me to wipe the screen with a damp cotton cloth which improved things.

Meldrew I tried to keep moisture away from the screen but will try that too.

WRT the screen, I find that using the whole pad of either finger or thumb, similar to when opening a phone with fingerprint, helps. I’m right handed so use the pad of my right thumb. Definitely doesn’t like wet hands. If I change something whilst at the market I ensure my hands are completely dry first

Thought It would be good to update all on my screen. I finally decided to remove the screen and see if there was anything obvious as it has been very hard to get it to respond at times. Purchased a longer 5.5mm socket, which made things easier. Found nothing to mention so refitted. Well it works perfectly now, not sure what could have been the issue as all connections were sound, the earth connection seemed good. It was a fiddly job and would be a lot harder without the longer socket. It also made it easier by removing the side panel. Must say that the screen does look like a quality product.
