We’re both vegan but managed to find some fantastic cook books: Griddled asparagus with garlic white bean purée on sourdough Then Roast celeriac and walnut pesto with porcini red wine lentils and spring greens. Chicken satay with home-made marinade and sauce, grilled on coals. Disappeared very quickly.

Peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies…No picture as they're all gone😋 As I'm retired but my other half is not, I'm the designated head chef and bottle washer so I do virtually all the cooking. Last night was home-made steak pie, carrots, green beans and skin on buttery mash with lashings of gravy. Tonight as her in doors is having fish and even though I come from Portsmouth I hate the taste of anything that doesn't breath fresh air and lives in water except cress, I'll be tucking into my normal fall back position of beans (flavoured with a dash of chipotle paste) on toast with a sprinkle of good strong cheddar cheese on the top. Hmm… thinking about it, I just might pimp it up with a couple of strips of smoked bacon too.

Not convinced it counts as being made, but the last thing I cooked was pizza. The last thing I made was Tuesday evening when I made a "clear the odd bits" special so there was pasta and pan fried spinach gnocchi, homemade egg fried rice with spinach, peas, onion, garlic, baby corn and a few other bits along with a tomato and mozzarella sauce and then some bits of crispy bacon, chorizo and pine nuts and some mushrooms baked with a bit of red wine and soy sauce. Incredibly random but cleared bits out of the fridge and store cupboard. It all disappeared quite quickly so that's always a good sign!

I’m not saying that the beef won’t taste great but advertising is advertising and it annoys me.
What does 40 days matured mean?
Is that 40 day old veal?
“Dry aged on bone, 21days” I would assume is hung after slaughter for 21 days.
Maybe they then age it in vacpac for another 19 days?

The “sired by registered AA bulls” is a flag that this is beef probably from dairy cattle that have had AA bulls over them (or AI) instead of dairy bulls.
That’s ok as they get a beefier calf/steer to slaughter and a dairy cow that will give milk for another 6-12 months.
My problem is that the way they market it makes you think that you are buying pure Aberdeen Angus beef, you aren’t.

You would think coming from Portsmouth I would love a bit of seafood but I don’t. To me, ALL creatures I have tried that come from salt or fresh water, taste disgusting. I do not know why my taste buds are that way inclined, but they are.

As a kid I could manage a birdseye cod fish finger and a fishcake from the local chippy, but I can’t even stand those now. Shame, because some fish dishes do look really appetising, as long as they do not have a face still on them.

Ended up doing it in the oven as it was raining yesterday. I won’t lie, it was up there with one of the tastiest joints of beef I’ve ever had. It fed 4 adults - all in all I’d buy it again in a hearbeat if I see it again.

I had great beef as well, I was busy so did it in the oven. I didn’t get an after photo as I was doing all the other bits! It fed 4 ½ people with plenty spare so could have fed a few more. Instead I get beef and mustard sandwiches for my lunch.

It was very good. I think it was 40 day aged Aberdeen Angus. My local Waitrose has a cabinet next to the meat counter for the fancy beef that’s dry ageing. I’m pretty sure this piece was one of the nice bits as the other side was properly dark brown and dried out(I think the term is bark). I was just lucky to walk in when it was half price as it was almost past its sell by date!
