We’re both vegan but managed to find some fantastic cook books: Griddled asparagus with garlic white bean purée on sourdough Then Roast celeriac and walnut pesto with porcini red wine lentils and spring greens. Chicken satay with home-made marinade and sauce, grilled on coals. Disappeared very quickly.

Peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies…No picture as they're all gone😋 As I'm retired but my other half is not, I'm the designated head chef and bottle washer so I do virtually all the cooking. Last night was home-made steak pie, carrots, green beans and skin on buttery mash with lashings of gravy. Tonight as her in doors is having fish and even though I come from Portsmouth I hate the taste of anything that doesn't breath fresh air and lives in water except cress, I'll be tucking into my normal fall back position of beans (flavoured with a dash of chipotle paste) on toast with a sprinkle of good strong cheddar cheese on the top. Hmm… thinking about it, I just might pimp it up with a couple of strips of smoked bacon too.

Not convinced it counts as being made, but the last thing I cooked was pizza. The last thing I made was Tuesday evening when I made a "clear the odd bits" special so there was pasta and pan fried spinach gnocchi, homemade egg fried rice with spinach, peas, onion, garlic, baby corn and a few other bits along with a tomato and mozzarella sauce and then some bits of crispy bacon, chorizo and pine nuts and some mushrooms baked with a bit of red wine and soy sauce. Incredibly random but cleared bits out of the fridge and store cupboard. It all disappeared quite quickly so that's always a good sign!

My first ever attempt. Chicken Tikka Masala, Onion Bhajis and Naan Bread all made from scratch.

Got to admit it tasted just like you get from the Indian take-a-way or restaurant which is exactly what the recipes said it would. Really chuffed. The Bhajis were not deep fried as we don’t possess a deep fat fryer so they are oven baked whihc is why they are not the all over rich dark brown you would normally get but the flavour was the best I’ve ever had.

Chinese style ribs and chicken thighs on the bbq with egg fried rice and a cabbage salad

Not something you can really make look appetising and I know sticking it in a pot with an Orchid doesn’t improve matters but hey ho.

I had a couple of good handfuls of plums and thought a nice pot of jam…pimped up with some Amaretto and a pinch of cinnemon.

I love making jams and pickles and the easiest and quickest is home-made Lemon Curd which knocks the socks off shop bought.

Mrs El c has an orchid very similar but in white, last year it was multi coloured ( apparently they can dye the flowers)

but they then revert. Amazing how long the flowers last

We have a plant that keeps budding new leaves, but no flowers after the one we bought it with 5 years ago!

The one you see in the photo was the same, throwing leaves, our daughter who also has one told us to put it in the kitchen window, wether it is the warmth combined with humidity from cooking but it suddenly started throwing flowers. ???🤔

Elcarajillo Thank you! Will try that - it can’t hurt. We’ve tried everything else (special feed, “flowering hormones”, different lights, different amounts of water).
