The Eureka Single Dose is now out in the wild. Is anyone thinking of buying one?

That document above is crazy marketing nonsense. I vote we remove from here as it's entirely bias and misleading. @"LMSC"#p944 ^^^.

When you read that doc (not sure if you have) you will see what I'm talking about. The claims they (Eureka) are making are baseless and without any substance what so ever. (rant over) 🤣

When I was toying with the idea of purchasing the niche zero I stumbled across lots of stuff online and that was one of them, I didn’t pay much attention after first glance tbh. I don’t believe it would be helpful to someone considering the comparisons either if they were looking for meaningful info

Mine is being delivered later today. I’ll give my thoughts. I had a Niche in the past but didn’t get on with the flavours in comparison to my Atom 75.

Frothbewithyou if you could release a Niche Zero 2nd Edition what would you change?

I think most of Niche owners, who experienced the grinder for a while, would like to see a flat burr option. As for changes in the current model, I’m not sure. It works for me very well. If I were to suggest something, maybe a portafilter holder option. I don’t use the cup at all.

Surely 2 future Niches, one with 83mm flat burr and one with 83mm conical burr, sub-£1000 would just own the sub 3K market?

100% agree, a Niche Flat would be worth a serious look if it measured up.
Bellows….hmm…missing the whole point of the Niche unless it’s just your OCD getting out of hand, IMHO

Frothbewithyou Two things I would change on the Niche Zero. First, I would have a separate power switch to turn it on/off. Secondly, an easier way to pull out the main cable. Since I got my Niche I still have not managed to fully pull out the main cable. I’m somewhat heavy handed, and knowing my luck would probably break or mess something up 😁

Other than that, I’m really happy with the performance of the Niche. Said it before but I would not change it for anything else at this stage.

Just pull it until it doesn’t come out any longer, gently. It’s simply stored inside the base, without any fancy mechanisms. In fact, if you remove the single screw which holds the wooden lid to the base (underneath the cup tray) you’ll see it there, together with two spare springs. 😊

Flat and conical versions sporting >= 83 mm
Swap flat for conical and vice-versa

I wonder how a combo would work though !

Wouldn’t that essentially be the Hedone Honne or Versalab M4 with both conical and flat? I must say the Hedone Honne seems very interesting to me, but don’t see too many reviews lately about it. Work flow seems one of the best also.

I wouldn’t be buying the Eureka after watching that review.

I know zero about grinder design but if I find it wanting that a company of this size puts out a grinder with a puffer to blow the grinds out - and they still get caught by the anti clumping device.

Now that Niche is manufactured in China, I wonder how long it’ll be before I get an email from Aliexpress offering me the chance to buy a Neesh for a couple of hundred 🤔

The eureka is a lazy way of making a single dose grinder

The took there normal grinder design, angled it. You can see they couldn’t even be bothered to make a fresh front plate

Then theh added a blow up hopper.

The adjustment on the eureka isnt amazong either just a threaded rod

Nope. The earlier ones were made in the UK, potentially assembled by Martin and James. Mine is one of them. Obviously demand grew exponentially, so they needed to produce the grinder into a much bigger scale.

I think it was 6-9 months, as demand was so high it became difficult to manufacture at their home workshop. The production facilities in China are quite incredible, and he got to know the best places to have things made due to his previous career with Kenwood. If anything, I would imagine the quality/consistency of the Chinese assembly is as good or better. Certain parts are still sourced from all over and shipped to China for production. e,g. Mazzer Burrs etc..
