boshk Luckily it’s an easy fix once you can reach both ends of the pipe. You will need to email ACS and ask for a replacement pipe. Very unusual fracture?

Fortunately I think there is an access panel under there.

LMSC That snapping of the pipe is strange; and, I think it should not be anything to do with the handle.

Of course it is…It’s not coincidence, just unusual. I’ve seen the levers fly up a few times, but first time I’ve seen this.

The pipe and the entire brass fittings shouldn’t stress at all, should they? I am intrigued what does pulling the lever has got to do with those fracture ?

That pipe fitting is also unusual. I do not know and wonder why does it require so many joins. Was it to address the permanent glue problem Jake and I faced in the case of the elbows? Please look at our model. It’s a simple connection, although I suspect our models may suffer the same fate of the elbow! 😁

@Cuprajake Yeah! Those T’s and Elbows can be another Custom Italian makes. 😅

boshk Sorry to hear this mate. Please contact ACS. You might need parts from them. Dave might know if they are not commonly found outside Italy. When was the last time you opened the top and examined the internals.

Damn, the pipe has snapped? I was hoping it’s the fitting…. Undo and buy a replacement from ACS.

I will look up your under panel… I removed the side panel and slowly pivoted electronic area out…hard to get my hands in…. No idea how I’m going to change it though.

Hoping ACS will sell me the parts required

It’s actually on the water distributor mounting plate and ’ve never seen one break like that so I’m not sure it’s a design issue. I’d rather wait and see what Paolo thinks. For sure many of those pipes could be changed for PTFE, but then people would say, oh that’s cheap looking.

Plus the copper ACS use is way higher quality than the normal stuff, as it’s the same as they use for the refrigeration compressors..Refrigeration copper.

It is likely to be a difficult access. He may need to follow the same procedure as Jake and I followed. The access is relatively easier than the steam arm elbow.

LMSC I removed the panel only once……when I first started the machine to check for leaks during Transportation, once it was all good, closed it up and never looked again.

Only thing I do check to underside in case of ‘slow leaks’ but everything was fine until the handle slipped out of my hand.

SO damn lucky my face wasnt in the way

TWO HANDS on it from now on, if I can fix it.

Might even wrap some non-slip rubber around the handle

Possible. We won’t know until the OP removes them. The internal threads of all the joints may have gone off too, given the stress and fracture. Looks like loads of PTFE tapes have been used, unless the flakes are from the threads. It’s better to replace all the joints. I hope it hasn’t damaged the pipe.

That’s a really good spot…yes I believe it is. So many photos of other machines going up…but the one below is @boshk machine. If ACS look at this thread they will be confused. It looks like the brass (one way?) fitting has actually sheared on the male part of the thread.

@boshk you need to absolutely confirm this, or you will get the wrong part. let the pump run and watch where the water is coming from!

It may well be the brass fitting is the only part you need to change. I have a bag of parts from ACS some for @LMSC and some for peoples maintenance spares in the UK. I doubt that fitting is in the box, but I will have a look.

P.S. It’s “possible” that that part was overstressed when fitting at the factory, but that’s just my guess? If there is a steel part available on the market, I might suggest Paolo changes to that.

I’m waiting on ACS reply.

I managed to pivot the electronic side out….had to unplug a hose but I think thats easy enough to put back…
I will get access from under too.

Once they give the go ahead to remove whichever parts, I will update u guys and also them….

The water is definitely coming out from there, I can’t confirm if its leaking anywhere else though since this is the main/biggest leak point.

I could try and remove that area and show you and ACS and let you guys determine what the problem is.

Not blaming anyone, rather get it resolved.

If its a manufacturing problem, then I’m sure ACS will confirm it and send parts, if it’s user error, then I’ve already emailed them and stated I would pay for parts and shipping.

id say its just that brass fitting, looking at how it has broke on the threads it cold have been nipped to tight,

in terms of lever use, make sure the portafilter is locked in, it should never come out and always two hands, ive only ever had it happen once with my l1, but it does give you a shock

boshk with you bike building skills you should be able to whip that out, its ptfe tape so easier that the locktite supplied by Satan 😝 it looks like a brass spacer, so the bottom two pipes will have an olive as will the top, it may just be an odd ball thread. once its out you can see better,

the only thing i can see of possible concern is theres a mark on the copper pipe just under the fixing but not sure if its the camera playing tricks

ACS replied, several replies actually, pretty amazing for a commercial company. Parts are being sent and when I get it, they will provide a video for the change. Apparently they said the pipe doesnt need to be changed
