I have owned and used a Izzo Pompei for more than ten years and I think the lever was accidentally released maybe once by me right at the beginning without any mishap. Since then, I have not had any issue with it mainly I think because the LSM lever is pretty safe when pulled down and left down as long as u don’t mess with it. As with all things that can hurt you, respect it and you should not have any issues with it.
For me, the most common mistake is to not lock in the portafilter enough, which results in a mess and often a shattered cup - this has happened a few times over the years. No danger in that sense but a mess to clean up and the loss of a good cup.
If the acs evo costs 5200 euros where you are, the shipping must be the cause? The base price shouldn’t cost that much, I believe in UK for instance. In that case you may want to check out the Nurri L-Type SA lever - it has all the capabilities that the acs evo has (except for the smart timer, i believe), and a few things moreover that the acs evo doesnt have, and unlike the acs which is distributed directly from the manufacturer, nurri has a growing dealer network all over the world, and if you are in the right country you may already have a dealer and in which case the price should certainly less than 5200 euros. Otherwise you can contact Antonio Nurri through the website and he may be able to point you to a dealer near enough to where you are…
