@DavecUK was right! That’s the logo of SSC Napoli, who finally became champions again. As a big Napoli fan, I simply asked Paolo if it would be possible to replace the “Vostok” lettering with the Napoli “N”. Since ACS is a genuine Neapolitan manufacturer, they were more than happy to to do it. If the logo wouldn’t be so intricate, he would have even punched it out for me. The folks at ACS were even so kind to send me a pack of pasta with the Napoli logo. Like I said before, top-notch customer service!

Naples is truly a football-crazy city. I went there specifically for the championship celebration, and it was an absolutely insane. It’s an experience one shouldn’t miss, even if not a Napoli fan. The entire city was on the streets and colored in blue, not a house without a flag. The whole city, from toddlers to grandfathers in wheelchairs, was out on the streets.

I have a two questions where I hope that someone here might be able to help me.

Firstly, the Vostok has the convenient feature of automatically ending the shot. Now, I wonder if this function means that backflushing is possible or even necessary to thoroughly clean the machine? It’s possible that I might be mistaken here, but I thought I’d ask, even if it means risking a bit of embarrassment :P

Secondly, I’m looking for an affordable pair of pliers that allows me to easily remove the shower screen of the Vostok. Does anyone have a recommendation for me? Thanks for all the help!

Hey Tira.
I also got a bag of pasta and a promise from Maria to make sauce when she comes to Australia (I might have made that bit up).
I know Maria is a big football fan so it does not surprise me that they were happy to do the logo.

I would just google search for “small a needle nose pliers, angled”.
That should get what you need.
In truth, when the group is cold, a steak knife or pointed skewer is enough to pop the light weight retaining spring out and remove the disc.

Thank you for the suggestion about the pliers! My concern or worry was not taking the spring out, but putting it back in. Or is that less tricky than I thought? I thought the spring was relatively strong, but that doesn’t seem to be the case from your description :)

They changed from a heavy circlip to a much lighter one.
I just removed this with these tweezers.
Putting it back in while hot was a bit trickier. :)

Can’t think that’s correct? @Tiramigiu if you have got heavy circlips, buy yourself some of these and use them instead.

Let’s wait for Timamigiu to reply. Maybe it’s me who artifically imagined that because angled nose pliers were mentioned, then they were still using the old clips. Sorry - this might be totally me making this up! 🤣

I’ve read the posts, but unfortunately I’m only now able to reply.

I think there has indeed been a slight misunderstanding. I originally asked what tools I needed because I had read a forum post by an EVO Leva user who mentioned that a particular pair of pliers is needed.

Unfortunately, as I only had one day with the Vostok, I didn’t have a chance to check the spring, and I don’t have a chance to check it now either. But I strongly suspect that the light spring is also installed in my case. If not, I will give an update as soon as I can.

Since no one has answered my question about backflushing, I would just rephrase it a little in case I have expressed myself in a misleading way:

As there was no blind sieve, I assume that backflushing is not intended for the machine, but I don’t quite understand why. Can anyone tell me if backflushing (with a cleaner) is necessary and if not, why?

I’m sure there must be some technical reasons that I can’t quite grasp at the moment.

For me, the possibility of ending the shot earlier goes hand in hand with the need to clean the machine internally through a backflush, or am I making a massive conceptual mistake here?

Back flush may be worth it once in a while, with a vent system I have no idea how much crud is dragged back into the system, so it may be worth while.

The new Vostok has pressure release fitted like when you turn off a e61, but like a minima with solenoids. So you pull gunk back through the machine

FYI, the Vostok 1 is €4.000,00 for this USA customer. Not sure if it has increased in price, or if the difference is due to shipping. Currently about a 2 month lead time.

Now I just need to find a grinder to pair with the machine.
