What do you reckon?

Hard to know why someone would back this (but they are) at such a high price relative to the Decent but unproven.

I’m not really sure what it offers that is different from the decent, apart from looks? The Kickstarter backing costs the same as a white decent XXL, not including shipping and vat, while also not arriving until July at the earliest.

It is interesting to see more products like the decent popping up, and I hope the product does well

Coffee Roaster. Home: Sage Dual Boiler, Niche Zero, Ode v2 (SSP), 1zpresso ZP6 Work: Eagle One Prima EXP, mahlkonig e80s, Mazzer Philos and lots more

Looks interesting, but given the cost I would definitely go with a tried and tested decent.

hornbyben I think you summed up the big challenge for them.

That said, they appear to be well down the development track and are only seeking a very modest funding level of EU30,000 which they will easily exceed.

My guess is that they don’t need much funding but are on KS to generate buzz, which is exactly what is happening in forums around the world.

I love my Decent, it’s the only piece of kit that has remained on my espresso island these last 18 months as more than 20 other grinders and machines came and went around it, while I figured out what I wanted.

But I also love the idea that it may have a credible challenger.

But at some point. the creators of the Maro are going to have to come up with some very solid reasons as to why punters should opt for an unproven newcomer with what looks like less features and less community support (Decent Diaspora is remarkable) - all for more money.

tompoland indeed. I think they’re going to have a tough sell.

I think they’re machine looks nice, but given how long I would expect a coffee machine to last I think I prefer the separate tablet model to an integrated screen, even if it looks a bit worse.
