I’ve not seen this YouTuber before, I guess his video makes for an interesting discussion point. The one thing it makes clear is the introduction of the Niche drove significant change in midrange grinders…a good thing as that area was poorly served in the past.

What I found interesting is why he felt one conical burr gave more like flat burr type results over the NS, I wouldn’t have expected that?

Agreed, watched a few of his videos in the past, don’t bother now.

DavecUK the introduction of the Niche drove significant change in midrange grinders

Also agreed, I don’t think the ‘Eureka Mignon Single Dose’ for example would exsist without the Niche, don’t know about the ones in the video.

I dont know why it does haha

They could have done so much more with it

      Stolen off cfuk

      Guys not happy.

      His words

just bought one, based in large part on the reviews you’re discussing (Kyle Rowsell and Brian Quan). Upgraded Obsidian burrset. Received it a few days ago. (AMA 🤷‍♂️)

Early days. Maybe it’s faulty. Maybe it’ll settle in. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.. But oof, my experience doesn’t seem to match at all what they’ve been saying on Youtube. Mine is really struggling and stalling even with supermarket medium roast, at moka pot, never mind espresso grind size.

The screeching and the slowness, I can live with, for the relatively lower price vs. other things I could’ve had. And I really like the minimalist design, and compact size. (Though you’re right about the white cable and insert, those really don’t match, but ok whatever.)

But it seems like for espresso, you have to feed it literally 2-3 beans at a time, or it jams and stalls 😳🤕

Assuming no actual defect, it seems odd. Just £5-10 more spent on the motor prob. could’ve made such a huge difference?

Fully agree with DaveC, Niche changed the landscape for home grinders and its stunning how anything new in grinders gets offered up as a “Niche Killer…” lazy journalism at its finest,

The Lagom Mini is very “cute” and it piqued my interest for a bit, Option O/Helor do make some really nice stuff.

But its a bit too cute for this grumpy old fart.

I accept that its really only intended for brew grinding like the Fellow Ode but I prioritise function over form and my concerns are for the longevity of this grinder…it has a seperate power pack seemingly just to reduce its visual impact, for pity’s sake. I stand to be corrected, but that’s how it appears. I suspect the price point may have relevance on some of the design decisions.

By comparison, I am in profound respect for the design of the Niche, it is totally user serviceable (by someone basically careful and mechanically competent) and its a beautiful piece of industrial design - no surprise really on that one, lol!!! Aesthetics - which are intensely personal and subjective - aside, its just so nicely done.

        Cuprajake Ah,…..nah……nah ….nah….nah….nah.etc..etc.. eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!…nah …nah….nah

I feel sorry for it, must be faulty.
