Cuprajake You don’t really have to wait for the Pac code and get the SIM.

    • Request a Pac code. They should get it to you in a few days by email. If on the phone, they can give immediately.
    • The new provider will give you a SIM with a temp number. You must tell them you are waiting for a Pac code so that you can keep the same number.
    • In fact, you can speak to a new provider that you want to switch and ask for their advice on the best way forward. I think, when I switched to O2 a few years ago, they did every thing for me.
    • Once you get the Pac code, you give it the new service provider. They will advise Virgin, switch the services, map your existing number to the temp number and switch after the agreed activation period.

Cuprajake If you don’t need Data, then Smarty have some good deals, even if you do need data, Smarty have some good deals. I pay £5 per month for unlimited calls/text, but no data….which is not a problem, as most places now have free wifi.

Have a look at the ‘How to switch section’ on the USwitch website. You can get a PAC code within a minute by sending a text.

Cuprajake have a look at what deals you can get. I can almost guarantee that once you ask for your code virgin will try and keep you.
See what they come back with - it might be better than what you’ve found and if it isn’t tell them they need to match it or better.
9 times out of 10 they will try and keep you happy.
I do this with sky and the like every now and again and it works a treat.

    Thanks guys,

I thought it was the case

Just got a rolling one month contract with plusnet £6 for 5gb

I’m on a 14GB 5G data plan with O2 - £10 pm, 12 month contract. Unlimited calls and texts. Got a free pair of Beats Flex headphones thrown in that I’ve never used and three months of BritBox, BT Sport and Apple News and Music which I’ve barely used.

    Edit - EE, not O2!

Trouble with Virgin is terrible customer service awful website. I have Broadband with them sadly no BT fast broadband in my area so stuck

I would probably ask for my PAC code via text and move on

We have been on their business broadband-landline bundle since 2008. Never saw the need to move. Good customer service, always available and 48 hours resolution. We don’t really pay any premium for 350 meg down, 20 meg up.

We don’t have sky or virgin for cable TV. Got rid of sky 2 years ago. Never missed it.

The mobile is with o2 for the last 7 years after staying with other services for a long time. Good and stable connections.

We don’t use the free wifi in public places for security reasons unless we can install paid VPN services on mobile.

    21 days later

Should be able to text a number and get a PAC code to move over. I did this recently leaving virgin mobile too. Was paying a fair amount for “5g” and never once got it even in the city centre with good coverage. I moved across to Voxi for the endless social media and video as I use it quite a lot whilst travelling on the train. Get 5g service quite a lot now and very happy with my change.

Yeah i eneded up ringing. They gave me a bogus number, so had to txt for one, it then took 3 days to port over.

    Typical uk service
