Yeah I saw that. Maybe I’m just wired differently but I’m just not the type to inspect a new thing I buy down to the nth detail and complain if it’s not absolutely millimetre perfect.
At the risk of sounding spiritual, there’s a wonderful peace of mind to be found when you let stuff like this go. It’s designed to be used, not looked at.
I get it if it’s quite clearly flawed or damaged to the point it’s easily noticeable but I saw the original complaint and agree with @Adrianmsmith.
That said, I do agree with some of the observations. There are parts of the Philos that feel cheaper, but I get the impression it’s to keep costs down due to the smaller scale of production. To manufacture this in Italy as a new product, entirely from machined metal would’ve presumably been huge money. The bits that matter are very heavy and very solid.
Also given the comments about the Zerno we saw from Hoffman, I’m not sure if the (apparently very popular) idea it’s far better is accurate.
