True, sometimes we get stuff that are priced amazingly but are at the mercy of the local dealers as it is almost impossible to import machines ( high shipping costs and taxes ), many machines that I was excited to get are either impossible to get it shipped or the dealer is greedy and inflate the prices ( Lelit Bianca from an official Lelit distributer costs 3050 EUR, while I can get it from EspressoCofffeeShop for 2035 EUR ). Still, sometimes we get stuff that is at MSRP, such as the Mazzer Philos. However, the issue we face is that there is no competition; almost always, there will be one store that serves as the distributor of a specific brand, and no one else is able to sell the same machine, allowing them to set the price as they wish.

The Mazzer Philos with i200D burrs is here, and I am finally retiring my 4-year-old Eureka Mignon Specialita. I’ve got it dialed in for espresso, and it’s making some amazing cups.
As for pour-over (V60), what is the recommended range of grind settings and recipe to start with (01 filter size)? Currently, I am on grind setting 23 for espresso.
Excited to start experimenting with alternative brewing!

For med-light roasts in a V60 (although usually 02 size) we’re typically between 90-100.
Espresso on ours is usually between 20-30 for reference.

Thank you. I also have a 02 size, but since I only make them for myself and don’t really want to make a lot, I bought the 01 size. As suggested, I will try the range of 90 - 100 and see how things go.

when comparing grind settings bear In mind….
Mazzer ship with true zero (chirp) about minus 10 marks.
This is only an issue if :
you are a facebook espresso aficionado or just from reddit in general.
Some on that other coffee forum from the UK have an issue also and think its wrong if you do no hear chirping at minus 0.0000001 . Some influencers on youtube are also just as bad.
The rest of us dont want the burrs chirping at exactly zero and realise it does not matter!!

Yeah my chirp point is below zero. I don’t know how far past zero because I did the completely crazy and rebellious thing of not taking it apart as soon as I got it.

For anyone else i can really recommend a torque rench capable of accuracy around 2.5n range and the correct screwdriver bit - ph2/sl

Yup, I am aware of the true zero minus 10 marks on the Mazzer Philos, and I do not intend to change it as I do not see any real benefits of having true zero.
It is true that no two grinders are exactly the same, but having a reference range I can go by is always welcome for the first time.
I’m really enjoying the coffee it’s producing! I need to buy some more beans soon.

Just opened up the Mazzer to clean, what an absolute dream to deal with. Fool proof, just how I like it😁
Just one thought , I forgot that it’s the back burr that rotates so when brushing the burrs the position did change a bit.
Mazzer said that your grind setting will remain unchanged and all seems to be fine but would anyone else mark the orientation of the back burr prior to cleaning so you can position it back to exactly how it was? Maybe I’m over thinking this and it wouldn’t make any difference?
Just realised after having a light bulb moment helped by my long suffering husband that if the back burr is rotating then it won’t make any difference how it’s put back…..I don’t think 🤔 Do I trust him ?😆 I’m still having doubts about this🤣
