JammyDodger I can’t explain just how good it is being able to use the same grinder for both espresso and filter and for both to be delicious.
Absolutely.
Just today I’ve enjoyed two perfectly presented fruit-forward V60 cups from Taith and then a chocolatey, full bodied medium roast Kenyan espresso. All clump and static free, minimal exchange and only by twisting an adjustment wheel half a turn.
There aren’t many grinders that even claim to be able to do that, even fewer that actually can.
I think it’s important to see the Philos as both the grinder itself, and the I200 burrs that it was designed to run. Those two very good things together is what you’re getting rather than just good burrs or simply a new grinder.
Much like Leica cameras and their associated lenses. Technically the camera body isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, and the lenses can work on other cameras, but it’s the two together that really excel and make the package worthwhile.
