Adrianmsmith Not sure how legal the price point is for the uk companies advertising it or is that the markup on everything retail. Absolute shocker that tou can pay 1500 UK for it if you are not careful. And 880 direct from the manufacturer.
Yeah it’s all over the place. My guess is that there are places buying direct from Mazzer and then reselling for a profit in the hope UK customers don’t realise you can buy direct. Mazzer hasn’t historically had a direct to consumer model until recently with their Omega hand grinder.
For the orientation, I’m not just sugar coating it, I really don’t see an issue with the rear adjuster. Unless you’re four feet tall and/or your wall cabinets stick out as far as your base cabinets (which I’m pretty sure doesn’t happen for obvious, head banging reasons), the dial is clear as crystal. Even standing a few feet back I can see the markers.
I’ve also said this already but if you reach your hand out in front of you like you were about to shake hands with someone, it feels very natural, and that’s the position you adjust the Philos with. Since the adjuster is buttery smooth, I actually prefer it to other adjustment collars.
The magnet on the cup fork and base is also very strong so you only have to ballpark the cup and it pretty much grabs it out your hand.
I agree it looks good sideways though, looks very top heavy when viewed from the front.
