I’m not home right now so can’t make a video but the auger definitely does something.
Whether it’s beneficial to end result is beyond my knowledge of how coffee is ground but I can say this for sure, if you open the gate while beans are in the feed, they’re absolutely smashed to bits by the auger before being fed into the burrs. It’s chaos in there.
I don’t know if this is different to other vertically oriented grinders as I’ve not had a clear enough view of the grind path to see.
