Do we know how much it’s going up to?

I know I’ll sound obsessed but I would go as far as saying even up at 12-1300 it’s worth it. Still absolutely love using mine and it’s great trying new coffees for both filter and espresso with the I200 burrs.

Changing the subject, has anyone ever had anything machined/turned from metal?

It’s slightly wild but I was considering designing a hopper lid in Solidworks with a little sight glass built in and having it turned in stainless.

I was going to get a wooden one but think the stainless would look great with the rest of the Philos.

I might send a design to a few companies. I found a few that specialise in prototyping and do one-offs. They’ll probably tell me it’ll cost more than the grinder 😅

HarveyMushman would be a great idea with machined hopper but expect it to be quite costly.

I settled for this after few prototypes 🤪

Has anyone had the front fall off yet or is that only on the other, other / US forum and talked about on Reddit ,😳🤪

Great idea! Hadn’t considered using actual Perspex or similar for the top.

I’ve got a design idea in my head for stainless, I’ll report back when I know how ridiculous the price is.

@Adrianmsmith my front plate is still rock solid. I cleaned it the other day and wasn’t careful and it hasn’t budged.

Im on the fence but not sure id go so far as to call them nipples 🤪🧐 have definitely seen better nipples if not grinder!!

HarveyMushman please keep us posted on this hopper idea- it Sounds very interesting and keen on doing something to mod the current set up!

Mocked up a few possible options for the lid.

I think the metal would look great but realistically far more costly than the wood option.

HarveyMushman they look great! Taking into account what I tried a larger window works better in my opinion.

I prefer the 200 but im a bit strange i guess!!

Medium and medium dark. Normally for flat white.

Still not used the ssp i have on loan enough to comment!!

I’ve tried them with more traditional roasts and also find they work well. That said, I haven’t actually tried the 189 burrs.

Yeah I think the last one is the one I’m leaning towards, probably just turned oak with black stain.

In hindsight the metal one is way over the top and would also be pretty heavy.
