Cuprajake But this is were my moral dilemma comes in. My little girl said she felt cold. So my plan is to keep the house at 18.

Remember what advice we were given, she needs to do some star jumps! 😁

There’s also the warm hubs…..

P.S. Once people realise this, and worse, will be what net zero looks like, perhaps they will protest

Against the law soon to protests.

I see the chancellor is trying to remove the bankers bonuses caps…

All of this regulation is stifling progress. Remember the trickle down economics we’ll all benefit from. I know it’s been 50 years coming, but you must remember- we’re all in for a massive winfall - if we stop now we’ll lose it all

Cuprajake Those poor bankers have had a tough time of it, think of their well being. Especially how much it will benefit us all when they get larger bonuses.

Not to forget that the banks got massive bailouts

Well we couldn’t let them fail and simply give account holders the money ….that would have been cheaper, and too simple. Sure they profited massively, or tried to on ridiculously bad investments….but hey ho.

We can’t blame the banks, especially not for the huge increase in house prices and mortgage indebtiness. Lending huge multiples of salaries, who could have forseen the effects. The guvnor of the BOE has even made the genius leap that raising interest rates can’t control the type of inflation we have…but they’re still going to do it. 🤣

dutchy101 the problem is, who do you believe? If I use logical thinking and scientific knowledge to come up with a solution, there is a total mismatch with what most countries are doing. So either I am completely thick or we are being deceived.

Nuclear fusion is a complete con from those supposedly always to be trusted scientists. It might well be possible one day, but not in a timescale where anyone living today will ever see.

And all this without me being concerned with climate change per se, but humankind spaffing such a valuable resource as coal, gas and oil up the wall, just to make electricity, heat homes, and fuel cars (planes, ships …).

I thought they were upstanding members of the community

Not yet and not until late October unless it gets really chilly. Then it will be the log burner only supplemented by the central heating when we’re desperate…

Not so far! However, I don’t think my 83 year old MIL would manage until late Oct. Normally, we don’t switch the heater on unless it is too cold.

Mine came in for an hour the other day. 16deg it was in the house

Our upstairs heating came on a few days ago and again this morning. Will be turning it down when the wife is not looking, lol. She does like it warm. It was set at 19 but should be 18 really. I am surprised that it came on as the house is well insulated being only 3 years old. We have underfloor heating downstairs which has not come on as yet. We are lucky that each room is individually controlled so we have quite good control over the temperature in all areas downstairs. The lowest temperature that we have seen so far is 20.5. Jumpers have been brought out. Just wished that we had a log burner, might see if we could get one installed.

How can they be cheaper, especially with the price of logs increasing ….great for the ebv as well 🤣

DavecUK One log burner heats the whole house. Logs are the same price here as last year. The imported ones have increased a lot though.
            “ebv”?

DavecUK A friend of mine had one fitted several years ago and said that his house had never been so warm . I don’t know how good they actually are but it would give one an option other than gas heating. I also think sitting in front of a nice open fire is more psychological than anything else. Just nice sitting in front of a real fire.
