selmerfudd My pump does not engage continuously ramping slowly to the pre-infusion pressure , it does so in smallish bursts and the pressure gauge also shows a pulsing of the pressure - I suspect that somehow the pre-infusion pressure is reached and then dissipates as the puck absorbs the water causing the pump to re-engage itself!

I suspect you are pulling the lever too slowly then, a video from you would help to see what you mean…..

See first video below for a quick view of what i mean…..

Last video shows the adjustment.

Adjustment is a combination of these 2 circled to position the “wedge” so it engaged the pump with very little movement of the lever.

BUT FULLY DISENGAGES THE PUMP WHEN THE LEVER IS IN THE RELEASE POSITION.

    thx

1-Do you happen to know what activates the pump so to fill the piston chamber , is it pressure via a solenoid , is it lever position , ? I do not see any electrical on off somewhere on the group ,!

2- At the same time , my water dispersion at the shower screen is not a well dispersed dripping as I am used to from my Decent or even any E61s I have had - can it be improved and how

    thx

      1. Pump is controlled by:

Demand from the plunger (under the flush lever) operated by the lever, when the pressure in the system is below preinfusion pressure.

So if the plunger is pressed pump will come on as pressure hits zero and off again at preinfusion pressure . If pressure drops it will come on again to maintain preinfusion pressure.

Once lever is lifted it is above pre infusion pressure so pump stays off .

      1. Send a video!!

i was under the impression it matters not as it behaves totally different when under pressure

sorry for the delay i was out vacationing - i have the video– how do I insert into the text - i dont see a insert button thx

            Adrianmsmith

here is the video thx for looking– first section –i pulled the t bar and ran the [ump ,,then i did so with the lever -

Behind the screen is a single hole allowing water through you will possibly get some puck drilling and less of a pattern Vs the stock sleeve which has three holes and a full shower screen

You can align the screen better to the hole to avoid drilling but it doesn’t matter to much the full is so quick.

puck drilling yes - sometimes i see a crater on the puck - always in same place – so i have ordered a puck screen to place on the puck - maybe that will help a little

                thanks for ur advice

Should do, generally they make the shot a bit quicker to,

I use them for cleanliness, but don’t like them as they are hard to clean 🤮

It seems your screen is not fitted as well as it can be, water coming from the back edge possibly not allowing the full shower across the screen .

Can you post a photo of the bottom of your sleeve with your shower screen off just to see the location of your inlet hole relative to the scree hole for comparison.

Will post a longer video tomorrow showing the flow from mine .

Im happy with what i now have but, as im not interested in the full “safety” feature as such i now have 4 × 1mm holes which allows continuous flow without going over .5 bars in the open system .

What i had not previously realised was the shower screen sits lower than that of the standard sleeve, which is a good bonus, allowing a lower dose with a nice dry clean to remove puck.

Not sure how the absolute position compares to e61 as you previously mentioned .

If the portafilter ever did “drop off” theres still damping compared to the standard sleeve but would not look like a safety system in a promo video 😎

Seems a very good system now for my needs.

Ok, looks good and the hole is within the solid part of the screen .

                    This is where im at….

Screen is a perfect fit. Finished with a light rub with 1200 grit
