I thought that the idea was to take the Cremina on. Apparently the Vectis (even though there are none in existence I believe) is already more temperature stable than the Cremina, according tolegend already put out, although I would take that with a pinch of fairy dust. The boiler on a Cremina holds 3.8 pints.
Width 7.87 in
Depth 10.63 in
Height 12.99 in
Weight 24 lb.
Some other more thoughtful soul can convert that please!

W = 200 mm
D = 270 mm (with lever 470 mm)
H = 380 mm (with lever 490 mm)
Weight 13 kg
Boiler 1.8 litres (note: the ‘3.8 pints’ are US pints)

So, this is the comparison to look at
20cm wide, 30cm deep against the above for a Cremina, and no doubt someone can post and make a table to compare the Liz to the other 2?
So it’s just like a pavoni style lever, as in not sprung?
I’ll admit I have no interest in a lever you have to do the pressing with.
When you introduce a human into the equation then you add variables.
I bet making a small lever that’s temp stable is quite hard.

Cuprajake You underestimate the effects of fairy dust Jake

Don’t know about the Vectis; the Cremina comes in both versions, so in principle I don’t see why the Vectis couldn’t be sprung too. Quite whether either is stable mechanically and thermally… different question!

it’ll be a spring lever Jake, according to Londinium.
So if it’s sprung, then is that not a bit of a risky thing
I mean making a spring lever that is cheaper than your main products but just as good, why would people then buy the likes of say the lr24? Surely the only advantage it then has is adjustable pre infusion.
I dunno, I’m not bothered. It’ll just end up like most other lever threads

Because it’s got a copper boiler!

From my perspective, providing it delivers within acceptable parameters:
- form factor (a lot smaller);
- Price (£1k rather than £3.5k);
I don’t think it will kill the existing range, but it would rather complement the range if done right. For me, the main concerns as an end user are the the brand new group and it’s operational capabilities (temperature range, stability, monitoring, pressure range, etc). Hopefully all of those will be demonstrated at some point, openly. And, if it delivers, I’ll seriously consider it. Unless ACS comes up with their own… 😊
MediumRoastSteam Buy a used Cremina. You get the benefit of owning a Swiss made historic machine that is a known value and if you shop around should be available at under a grand. Then you have nothing to worry about going forward as they are a known perspective

But most of them are direct lever, right? (I.e.: no spring) Besides, they are known for being thermally unstable, like the Pavoni.
I would only consider the Vectis if demonstrated to be capable. Otherwise I wouldn’t go anywhere near it.
MediumRoastSteam “thermally unstable” while true for the Pavoni, is going a bit too far for the Cremina. “requires some -minimal- thermal management” might be more accurate.
Enea_ - ah, ok. I thought they were roughly the same in that regard. My mistake then. 👍
MediumRoastSteam Totally agree, for me a small form factor is highly desirable.
Should I have a wish list, love the LSM group, PID control would be great, a boiler cover (burns are part of the La Pavoni/Elektra MCAL owner experience, lol!), modest weight and proportions…Mara X sized would be brilliant for the modern sized kitchen
Spring or direct lever, either is fine if there can be assistance given to the spring , like the Gaggia Mini…
An open boiler is a much simpler beast in terms of stability but most people want steam….
Structural strength can be engineered in without spending a fortune on heavy plate, it’s a matter of intelligent design
Wow, this is dangerous territory for someone who thought they’d got to their personal happy place, lol!!!

dfk41 Used Creminas in The Antipodes are made of Unobtanium, with consequently silly prices used…around $4,000 plus if and when they come up….new they’re RRP AUD6,890.
I’m not that keen on LM myself but a new Linea Mini is AUD7399, and a Bianca is AUD4399……Cremina’s really a bit spendy for what you get here.

CafeNoir It is peculiar. Last Cremina I owned had been totally stripped down and rebuilt and I had to give it away at 800! I would not be so fast as to write off the LM group until you have tasted coffee from one!
