I have what may be silly questions but here goes. I own the Elizabeth and was wondering if the needle on the manometer should move and hover somewhere in the preinfosion range when using either of the 3 sec/6 sec presets? I recently sent it in for service and I want to say that I remember it doing so prior to sending it in but it doesn’t now. It does move to the green zone while actually brewing. Here are the settings in the advanced menu:

Brew temp = 203°

Steam temp = 275°

Preinfusion button 1 = 3 sec

Preinfusion button 2 = 6 sec

The needle doesn’t move at all during the preinfusion stage with either preinfusion button but goes into green when I brew.

Next question…thoughts on how far the portafilter slides in the group head? Mine slides well past the 12 o’clock position without effort and has done so since the day I got it. Nobody really can come up with a reason why it may do this. It also seems that nobody else has had this problem unless the gasket was old and worn out. It was suggested I change the gasket so I bought the recommended upgraded, red silicone gasket. I’ve tried the stock filter and bottomless filter (Lelit brand) with all the baskets I have, including the backflush basket. The handle still slides effortlessly to between 2 o’clock & 3 o’clock. I don’t know if it’s something to actually be concerned about but it doesn’t seem right to me.

Thanks!

TracyN - hello! What pre-infusion are you using? Bloom pre-infusion or steam boiler pre-infusion? What’s the setting of EV in advanced settings? Did you read the comprehensive Elizabeth review?

Can you take a photo of your porta filter when fully locked? Usually we would say they it is at 6 o’clock position when it’s perpendicular to the machine’s front panel, so I’m baffled that it’s locking at 3 o’clock for you.

Also, I’m assuming the temperature measurements you have provided are in degrees Fahrenheit rather than degrees Celsius.

TracyN Ah you found it from Facebook! Welcome. The article mentioned is this one:

MediumRoastSteam knows a great deal about this machine. And Dave Corby runs this forum and also knows Lelit very well. I have been helped here many times.

Linked in that article are a few maintenance and technical articles too. So read up, and check the advanced settings. If you are in bloom mode that would answer the question.

I don’t think 3 seconds preinfusion is enough to move needle at all unless you purge some water and fill chamber just before shot.

Be that as it may, we still need some more information from the original poster to help her.
