Hi hopefully this is the correct place to get some advice on two bean to cup coffee machines I have been looking at to purchase.

I have been looking at the Siemens EQ.700 classic (£630) or a Jura E8 for (£900)? Form a bit of reading I have done online I feel the Jura is more easier to clean as it self cleans the brewing group, seems to have a better foam with milky coffees and coffees with milk tends to be brewed hotter than the Siemens machine (had read some customer reviews saying milky coffee come out like warm).

I will be using the machine mainly for cappuccino and lattes at home, but I also do like the idea of the coffee world on the Siemens machine, being able to try other coffee variations.

Just not sure if as £270 more for the Jura is justifiable.. or even worth it?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Can’t comment on the Siemens, but my brother has the Jura and I’m not sure it’s worth the money if I’m being completely honest. The coffee I’ve had from it when I’ve had it tastes very meh. Same as the £6k Jura bean to cup machine we have at work

dutchy101 My mobile deciding what I should be posting, wouldn’t of course. With many machines where you cannot physically open them and remove the brew group, to clean it, plus the entire grind distribution/brew area, within 2-3 weeks mould becomes a real issue. No amount of self cleaning programs solves this.

I tested a Jura top end model and found this problem.

    Hi Dave & Dutch,

Thanks for your responses so far. The self cleaning element was one of the features that drew me to the Jura. However, as you already pointed out, my concern with this is how well the self cleaning mechanism performs and the issue of mould forming as this would ruin coffees over time if the brew group isn’t thoroughly clean.

I’m starting to think the saving of £270 is the better option with the ability to manually clean the brewing group. Hopefully I don’t become lazy over time with it!!!

Khush26 how well the self cleaning mechanism performs

It is impossible for self cleaning with tablets to ever prevent mould formation from the dampness and coffee that falls around the brew group. The tablet can’t clean that…ever!

Obviously you have looked to buy a BTC various reasons. However, it might be worth just evaluating your choice a little. You can for the same or less money by a used prosumer espresso machine & grinder from our classifieds that will make infinitely better coffee….really coffee not only on a whole new level, but many levels above a BTC machine.

A sage oracle will give better coffee that a B2C with almost as easy a workflow. They only thing you have to do is move the portafilter from the grind/tamp side to the water side.

If you go down the rabbit hole you can also do most of it manually, but you don’t have to.
