I have a fun predicament to share: I am going to start bringing my soon-to-be-purchased Kingrinder K6 into the office to hand grind some filter and some of the shots I drink from our Jura machine.

I have tinkered with it all I can and followed James Hoffmans videos as far as I can but the thing will never make really great coffee, and that is OK. That said. I am pretty sure that one of the limiting factors will be its grinder (having put some slightly finer hand ground down in the past and got some decent rich shots from it)

My question is: how fine should I grind? These machines are obviously not really designed to prepare pucks properly or handle a true espresso grind and brew pressure. I am curious if anyone has experimented with this with any decent results?

tobyjrn6 I think it’s going to be a matter of trial and error, you’re going to have to see how fine you can go before the machine just produces a dry puck and no coffee because most of it will have gone via the over pressure valve.

Easy to try and fun if it works at getting you a better coffee.

And tobyjrn6 , following up on Dave’s comment, one size does not fit all, as you know. It’s also coffee specific.

I’d start with something closer to what you do for your Bianca and go from there.
