Quick question - is leaking around the top of the grouphead likely to be as simple as new gasket seal needed, or do I need to look inside the machine?

I have a suspicion it will be the the MC752-7 seal, which looks a bit beyond me to fix :-(

Looks generally dry, couldn’t find any wetness inside at all, hunted around with a torch and pulled shot with blind basket

But are these signs of leak at the bottom of the boiler?

Any other pictures needed @DavecUK ?

I’ve kept on looking, better picture of the top here:

Absolutely no sign of any other leaking, so maybe it is that lower gasket. @DavecUK - is it right that the lower gasket should be installed with Loxeal 85-86? This may be my biggest repair job on the machine so far.

From the first photo, it appears to show a cork gasket to the side but an ‘O’ ring to the front.
It does not show a seal / gasket for the joint on M752-1 ???

Elcarajillo that’s just a misleading camera capture - there’s no gasket there, you see the brass (that looks like cork). My suspicion is that the leak is coming from higher up.

Just capturing information that may be useful for someone facing this issue in the future - Lelit support have told me that Loxeal is not needed on the gasket.

jcb1973 Lelit support have told me that Loxeal is not needed on the gasket.

Loxeal might well make things worse. I should be a Viton compression gasket. I’ve not seen one, but presumably it will be o ring style.

Thanks @DavecUK - just goes to show that we need to be careful with information sources. There’s a very confident sounding post on Reddit saying “you need Loxeal”!!!

          I know, I know, I shouldn’t be trusting Reddit LOL…

BE VERY CAREFUL OF CONFIDENT PEOPLE ON REDDIT would be a lovely t-shirt

            100% agree

jcb1973 Just to confirm that changing the MC752-7 seal solved this leak.

excellent news, did you take any photos of the procedure…although it’s not a problem I have heard of before, I am sure people would find the fix interesting. Especially if they have the same problem.

I did take some pictures, but even better than my amateur efforts there is a good video from Lelit on removing the brew boiler, I followed the steps here:

It was extremely helpful to mark the connections to the boiler to make reassembly easy - that was the best tip from that video. e.g.

I also put a sticker over the power switch, marked “RESET” to make sure I remembered to reset after the procedure (don’t burn out the heating element).

Glad you fixed it. How old was the machine and was scaling present at all inside the boiler?

Machine bought in December 2021, production date 2021-04. Some scaling around the leak area - is this a lot / a little, I don’t know what to compare to?

(I’m using Lelit filters and changing them on schedule)

What about the part where the heating element is? What does that look like?
