Hi guys, I'm seriously thinking about ordering a Duo in white with both burr sets, the website is saying dispatch will be the end of September, does anyone know if they dispatch sooner than that, I'm not that bothered to be honest but I'd like to know if the grinder might turn up sooner? Following my own and other people's experience: they never deliver late, but sometimes they are early. Mine (Zero, not Duo) was scheduled for a three month wait and was delivered right on schedule. Right after that people started getting theirs much earlier than expected. So if I were to order from them I would set my expectation to their delivery estimate, and if it came early - would be pleasantly surprised (but not shocked ;-)).

@"Twotone2"#p49592 I've posted this before, but I'm super impressed with the standard 151F filter burrs in the Duo. They yield enough body for my liking and still offer good seperation of flavor notes. Kudos to Mazzer for producing such as outstanding filter burr at such a great price (assuming one purchased them seperately). The "super burr" for filter is reported by some to be their k151G which is some three times the price and still sitting in its box because frankly, with the 151F being so good, I'm not feeling especially motivated to try anything else 😀. And provided you are OK with the burr swap (see @"LMSC"#16 very helpul daily log on his experiences at https://coffeetime.freeflarum.com/d/1851-coffee-with-duo/116 ) then I applaud your decision to get both burr sets. IMHO the design is pure genius and I have to admit to being upset that so many reviewers think the central idea of easy burr swapping has little merit.

@"tompoland"#p49609 Thanks for that (apologies I don't know how to quote on here) yes I thought about just buying the espresso burrs but for another £120 you effectively get two grinders so worth it I think. I just recently bought a load of coffee and inadvertently ordered a kg bag pre ground for filter/cafetière which was terrible it was nice coffee but there were loads of fine grounds left in the cup so in the end I ended up re-grinding the coffee for espresso so I want to be able to grind for filter myself properly. I buy about 4kg of beans every six weeks so I spend quite a bit on coffee over the course of a year and so I want to try to get as much flavour out of the beans as I can, at the moment I don't know if my current grinder is capable of producing nuances in the beans but if it does I can't taste them. Don't get me wrong I like the coffee we drink which is mainly milk based for me and water based for my wife and traditional roasts however I've never been able to get decent coffee from light beans so I end up buying the same sort of beans all of the time, the favourite being Monsoon Malabar but I'd like to try different types of beans, I bought some yirgachefi beans recently and they didn't produce what I was expecting flavour wise they were a bit meh to be honest so if the Niche can improve our coffee drinking experience I'll be delighted and it will be money well spent however if there's no real difference (between grinders) I'll just move the Niche on. it’s a la Cimbali Magnum with 73mm TIN burrs, I’ve had it for about four years, I ended up buying the same type of beans all of the time as I’ve never managed to get a decent coffee out of light roast beans so gave up on them but I’m going to try them again now I’ve got the Duo.

Btw the Duo is really quiet compared to the La Cimbali, I make coffees for myself and my wife every morning and on the weekends she’s usually sleeping when I’m making the coffees but the old grinder would literally waken the dead so my wife will get peace when I’m making the coffee now with the Duo, actually can’t believe how quiet it is.

Just made two coffees for breakfast, coffees were excellent but it must have taken me half the time to make them that I usually took with the old grinder.

I’m really impressed with the Duo really impressed I can’t believe how easy it is to use, absolutely worth every penny, Niche have totally nailed it, the old grinder is a decent grinder but it’s from another era certainly for home users it’s probably absolutely fine for churning out loads of coffees in a café environment but for a home environment the Duo is amazing. If I had a cafe I’d buy at least two Duos, one for espresso and the other for filter or decaf.

The Cimbali? Aye it’s about 600mm high and about 250mm wide at the bottom probably weighs about 15kg.

For medium to darker roasts chocolatey flavours … Is the Niche Duo a big step up from the Niche Zero? mainly for Milk based drinks.

BTW, there was some coffee fines in the espresso burrs I just brushed them out but I was quite surprised at the amount which was in fact minuscule but there nonetheless.

Filter Burrs = 10-20 for Aero press and 35-40 for filter

Espresso burrs = 25 for Aero press and 40+ for filter
