@becknorris, for us to be able to make some suggestions I think you’re going to have to expand a bit on what style of coffee you’re looking for, as there are a whole range of portable coffee options that could be suitable.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- A decent hand grinder is probably a must, as good coffee needs freshly ground good beans. Some good examples are the JX Pro, Made by Knock grinders, comandante.
- Some scales so that you can accurately measure your beans and water
- A kettle
- A coffee brewer. What you go for depends on the style you like. For filter perhaps a hario v60 or a clever coffee dripper. The aeropress can do delicious filter or more concentrated espresso style coffee. If you like espresso then perhaps one of the manual espresso machines such as the flair or cafelat robot
There is no such thing as BEST, everything is a compromise and it just depends what factors are best for you and your situation. The minimum is probably a pot, a grinder and a heat source (and of course good coffee), then you can make delicious cowboy coffee.
