Excitement builds!! Looking at the architecture it looks like someone in the UK too! I have absolutely zero interest in what the influencers think of this one, it’s a day one purchase for me.

I have not ordered the gbw allground - kinda waiting to see what the philos is like.. tbh nothing wrong with my current allground….. Still cannot see a price officially on the mazzer site - nor of they will have a reseller in the UK rather than a import from Venice.

I might’ve imagined this but I think @"DavecUK"#1 suggested Mazzer will retail this themselves and aim for a sub £1k price point (possibly for early adopters, with a later price rise). I’ve been waiting years for a single-dose, multi-method grinder from a heritage manufacturer that I like the design of. The latter two usually being the reason for me not buying anything yet. Tbh, even if it’s not perfect it’ll be an upgrade on my current setup and like the LM, just nice to own and use.

Looks great. I think I’ve read somewhere it’s between 900-100 euros.

Rumours on HB, so take this with a pinch of salt, are that the Philos has been delayed. Wouldn’t surprise me given the impact global conflicts on supply chains.

Yeah I saw that. Though made me laugh that places took deposits and then refunded especially as I thought that mazzer were selling them direct to start with… but theres no info in the mazzer site either. Just waiting to see the review tbh - anyhow my blind shaker is about to arrive - so something else to play with 😂

Yeah the retailers I've spoken to in the UK said they had no plans to stock it. Looks like it will indeed be Mazzer direct. I can see the reviews being disappointing. There's no shortage of low priced 64mm flats and people who don't care about build quality, place of build and manufacturer heritage are going to say it's overpriced and find plenty of flaws I'm sure. It's an interesting price point because you can get capable single dosers for half the price or less, and it's obviously not going to compete with the top-end grinders like Kafateks etc. I think the only way this will sell well in the current market is if influencers really get behind it. Then again, I don't think Mazzer necessarily need it to sell massively well as the home market still isn't their bread and butter. I'm excited for it and have said before, will be buying it regardless but I don't expect it to be a flawless grinder.

depends really, the build should be better than that of the df and time mores, you would think, but its a saturated market there has been a zerno fs and a kafatec and weber eg1 all around £1500 on the old forum

Adrianmsmith Well I had a serious issue like you, really like your Key. Very tempted. Maybe we can have a week each swop? Try before we buy. I bought a Monolith conical once had it 3 weeks or month sold it bought Niche that was 17/18 maybe 18.

HarveyMushman Harvey, I still say that you do not design a grinder to have to use bellows and thwackers…..you add them later as an afterthought to get around a problem that you either cannot solve, cannot be arsed to solve or cannot afford to solve

HarveyMushman In terms of the knocker and it being frowned upon……… The newest Kafatek Max now comes with a thwacker and has always had bellows so I also wouldn’t necessarily associate these with poor design.

Yeah I’m in support of the thwacker. As above I think it solves a problem that can’t be solved by grind path design alone.

My comment about them being a crutch was more aimed at the trend from the last few years of releasing grinders called ‘single dose’ which in reality were just the on-demand versions with a bellows/thwacker added.

ManicAsif tbh - a few factors… I have a Forenzato Allgrind…. and I am not a coffee expert.. my taste buds taste coffee :) - it does a good job and I am used to using it (its only just a year old).

That and my car died - so had to make a unexpected purchase.

The euro was refunded as I exceeded the 7 days to make the final purchase.. so once that expired (and they did send me a catchup email and extra day). Quite surprised they bothered doing a refund.

The website page is still there with the same pricing when I looked this morning.

When I looked the price quoted is £730 plus whatever duty is incurred.

First day I’ve looked. Has it been previously cheaper ?(not that I can time travel!!)

When actually ordering the price quoted today is €995

Adrianmsmith Thats the price invc VAT - it does all sort out.. (unless you are in europe so that would be the price).

Its not been cheaper… and as mentioned above once you pay vat/import its about £900 all in.

I’d not realised before today you have the go to Mazzer site then choose shop on the menu to actually go to the shop part of the site to see prices and order. The initial site is all about info only but there’s plenty of it!!

I am still sitting on the fence, as I don’t really have an issue with my modded Mazzer Mini and K6 KinGrinder for my pour overs - finding it hard to justify the spend on a new grinder (or more accurately finding it hard to justify to SWMBO :)

normally if I do get the go ahead, means it going to cost me lots elsewhere!

dfk41 why is everyone praising a thwacker and bellows all of a sudden? I always thought that they just demonstrated poor engineering?

I like the thwacked on my Philos (despite not initially thinking it was a good thing) as it gets all the coffee out of the chute. With my Niche, I often find a small pile of grounds beneath the grinder chute after making coffee as they are trapped in the chute by static and fall down once the static is dispersed. The thwacker ensures that doesn’t happen in the Philos, which I think it a good thing.
