@tompoland Thank you for your advice there, wouldn’t it be a thing if Niche offered a set number of different burr sets to choose from in the way DF do.

It’s not enough difference imo

Having had the SSP Hu along side the duo your talking 1-2% difference. It doesn’t warrant a near £400 price difference imo.

If you want to burr swap honestly look at the 64mm platform you can have 3 burr sets for the price of one 83mm burr.

    Cuprajake Thank you Jake, I will try and save for a Duo, I do like the idea of swapping burrs too.

      I sold mine after purchasing a Duo.

      Duo is much better in my opinion. Slower and more consistent grind.

      The addition of the ioniser to the df83 improved it some what but it was just too fast and not fully repeatable.

        There may be other variables at play of course (beans, roast depth, water temperature, pressure etc) that would account for different experiences with the same burrs, but for me the difference beetween the 151B and SSP Hu burrs is very significant. Night and day.

        But others like Jake will have different and equally valid opinions.

        And there lies the age old taste is key

        There are differences between them, for me the SSP Hu gave more sweetness and more acidity/brighter cups, I don’t know if that aligns with @tompoland experience with the burr(83mm) but £350 ontop of a £6-800 grinder already…..

        For me there are more ways(cheaper) to manipulate brew than just the burrs

        As I found with the mp burrs, once you get into them, they are slow, noisy and have a very small adjustment window, then you learn that people are changing brew water and adding drops to get different results, that was the nail in the coffin for them for me.

              Cuprajake Hi Jake, I drink flat whites, straight espresso, americanos, filter I favour more fruity tones too so a grinder that has changeable burrs is ideal. Duo sounds good, also there’s the new mazzer on the horizon too.
