  • Help with beans for espresso

Hi I always drink flat whites bar once many years back trying a ristretto, now I would like to try an espresso and wouldn’t know where to start so would appreciate it if I could get help picking a bean, all my past beans have been away from the fruit, floral taste going for caramel, nut types ?

Thanks

    Whereabouts are you?

I would, as above, run what you brung and just make a shot, see how it goes.

Then I’d consider getting something ‘standard but good’ like a bag of Red Brick from Hoffman’s Square Mile roaster, just because you can be pretty sure it’s a safe bet without doing anything too wild or unusual. And I’d also consider going to whatever bean emporium you usually use and seeing what it recommends for espresso, at the lighter roast end if you want to try alternative flavours. You’ll likely have to grind finer with the lighter ones.
