I used to work in a pub kitchen many years ago and they had a Thermapen so I have seen how useful they are, I bought one in a sale about a year ago and I find it a very useful kitchen gadget, it’s great for meat and takes the guesswork out of whether your chicken is cooked or not!

Actually arrived two days ago but have found using the right temperature has made quite a difference to the quality of the foam, art still rubbish but I think I stand a chance of improving now. The UPS from Germany is pretty steep though unless you buy a few bits, looking forward to the group head temperature thingy on Christmad Day.

Yep I’ve had my Thermapen a few years now and found it invaluable. Whilst even back then it was expensive it is very accurate and like many things, you get what you pay for.

You can pick up a Thermapen bargain on eBay. My Pro version set me back £33.00

    Django subs arrived early

I had a cheaper thermometer for a bit and it was painful as it took about 30 seconds to get an accurate temperature. I think I paid less than £40 in a sale for my Thermapen.

James96 well I actually did 24 day one, then meal then 40 hour fast meal then another 40nhour lost 6 kiko, 4 back on so not to bad. Just above 10 stone.

The postman didn’t bring these, Santa did. I’ve never seen chocolate covered beans before. Yes, real coffee beans, very crunchy.

They’re addictive. Don’t eat too many at once or you’ll get a caffeine spike

James96 no a fast hour fast not days I be done 😎

      Santa brought me these

Great when you are looking for a no effort steep and release filter. Found the pace of release to be slow until I read of a trick: pour the water in first, then add the coffee and gently stir, initially and then midway in the steep. The brew flows out like a charm when released. Adding the grounds first, water second seems to gum up the paper/

That it the same as the Clever Dripper…water then grounds steep and stir and it flows much easier.

          4 days later

I got a Niche over Christmas. Love it so much I wrapped my Gaggia Classic in white. 🤍 Currently planning a Gaggiuino mod.

I’d be interested to know how you get on with the Gaggiuino mod if you do go ahead with it

Some new coffees to try, came highly recommended. Might be the lightest roast I have had from anyone, at least since I started measuring the colour on coffees I buy
