New 3D printed clump crusher for the Solo. Frustratingly I ordered before trying the grinder with the Mazzer burrs I recently fitted and not sure it’s actually needed now. Up to the loft it goes for now.

Gagaryn The iOS Adguard app is not quite as good - due to the limitations of iOS it can’t block ads in apps - so you still get ads in the YT app. That makes it a waste of time for me on my phone

I asked them. They said iOS requires some manual configurations for system-wide blocking.

Did you try this? Don’t think it is worth the extra £45-£50!

LMSC That still doesn’t enable blocking of ads in the YouTube app on iOS which is my main use for Adguard. However the manual config of DNS filtering is simple enough - just follow the instructions. :-) And if you chose to use the iOS device as one of your three licensed devices there is no extra cost.

Gagaryn If for iOS and iPad, I would require a family licence! No point in spending extra, if it doesn’t block the youtube ads. Will stick to windows and mac. Thanks for confirming. 😊

I’d be interested in how well these work, I like the idea of being able to heat some of my rooms differently (part of my house gets considerably more sun in the morning and doesn’t need heating, other side is cold). I wonder whether it would be worth the hassle for what is probably only one room I want to heat higher than the rest.

I have them (installed for about 16 months now) and it is a great system. Especially as you see how much less energy you use by having them - despite paying more for it

My first ever electric grinder (Niche) turned up today, never used one before and I had fun trying to get the grind right for my Synchronika. My plan was to use 17g in a 15g VST basket to get 34g liquid out in 23 seconds. First time ever trying to make an espresso so had about half a dozen goes at it. Nearest I got was 32g and most was 41g in 23 seconds; I think that my inconsistent tamping will be a factor more than the grinder. My very first shot failed, I set the grinder to 15 and basically nothing came out for about 40 seconds. Grinder is now sitting at 22 so I will have another go tomorrow and focus on miniscule adjustments. I still think all the coffee that I made in the 32 to 41g range tasted fine to my uncouth palate🙂

My little rule of thumb helper, 1 mark coarser takes 4s off the pour, 1 mark finer adds 4 sec on the pour. If it chokes of course, you can tell., so 41g in 23 sec means you might tighten the grind up by 2 marks to get 38g in 29s.

As the burrs break in it will also get a tad more consistent.
