I personally would not buy from them.

The capsule thing is understandable, but packaged coffee I don’t really grasp.

I’d happily however accept fresh coffee into a bag that was used previously to store coffee that didn’t sell. The coffee can go to compost, or be sold in bulk to coffee shops who don’t care how good or fresh the beans are.

I just saw this in my facebook feed and was wondering how fresh the rescued beans would be.

I was nearly tempted, but LMSC that seems like a way cheaper and better option. Are they speciality coffees and freshly roasted? The price is appealing.

    I’ve been drinking coffee I roasted in August. It was fine until December really. I can certainly see why some would rest coffee for a month. It doesn’t go stale for quite some time if properly stored (as in rancid) but you might lose some flavours, then again other flavours might be there to take the place of what was lost. A roaster storing something in a 10kg container will probably sell that very quickly….unless they offer a huge range and don’t have many customers.

    Haven’t tried their coffee, tbh. Grab a bag of 250g and see how it goes.

    However, compass sells their Mystery 14 for ~£17; you can also grab CP from @BlackCatCoffee at similar price after discount. Both will have fresh roast dates and are very nice.

    As Rob said, I still have beans in the freezer, which are 6 months old. They are excellent even now.

    This is what they told me about their beans. Kind of similar to coffecompass but not sure if speciality.

      I have purchased a lot of beans from Coffee Compass. Their bags always had a roast date.

      Grab a 0.25 kg bag, if you are tempted. 😊

        Tell me I am wrong, but I thought their USP was they collected coffee from roasters:

        Whereas the snippet above suggests they are having stuff, probably shite, roasted for them. If it genuinely is what they suggest, I think it is bloody expensive. If the roaster could not sell it first time round……..

          dfk41 But couldn’t it also mean that the coffee beans that are, for example, 6 days past roast date that the speciality roasters don’t want to sell to their own customers (because they are past their aimed ‘best’ shipping date) so they sell it for cheap to these guys?

              dfk41 I probably think it is a combination of commodity beans and the beans the roasters could not sell - perhaps roasted, say > 2 months ago and sitting on the counter or a 10KG container.

              I do think some times you will get a decent bag and at home ****.

              If I can’t pay more than £18 a KG, I would keep buying compass’s mystery mark 14 and signature blend from blackcat. Both are good coffee, IMO.
