Just downloaded footage from my secret webcam in the kitchen of @DavecUK only to discover that he’s been holding out on us!

Cmon Dave, spill the beans (not the coffee ones) on this geourgeous looking leva.

For this machine it’s one of the first made, and I am doing an Engineering review on it for Antonio (the creator) as a favour, so I can’t really comment at this stage.

But I can post photos….and say that the Paddle levers on this are very basic beta ones….so that area is still in the design melting pot.

But it is designed for those who want to enjoy quality espresso at home, making it with the same passion and competence of a professional bartender.

I love the look of these sorts of lever machines, but they really need to at least try to make them a bit more compact in design. They’re either lacking in that area of expertise or they don’t care… A more compact design would look like a much better centre piece in a kitchen (and take less space in a commercial setting), rather than protruding till the near edge. The size distracts from the elegance of it.

Sham I agree when it comes to similar sized Levers that require external plumbing or flojet type arrangement. But the Nurri is dual boiler and plumbing is optional. Still, I agree that it’s a lot for a normal kitchen. I like the footprint on the Decent for example.

Sham Patent Pending relates to the servo assist and if there is a patent pending then its entirely appropriate to state that. This bit could probably use some attention though:

tompoland In that case they should have either decreased tank sizes and utilised quicker water heating technology (I’m sure there’s loads of options from other industry’s) or started with a more wide design but I guess that would’ve cost too much R&D time.

One way to think of it is that they won’t lose customers if its small, but they will lose customers if its too big.

It does look pretty nice though.

Sham very true with your last line. For what it’s worth the Nurri gets up to speed in less than 15 minutes, at least according to their website. I’m sure that in the fullness of time Dave will give us the scoop on that and more.

I’m just concerning about the longevity of electronics seems they’re a new company for manufacturing espresso machine. But it may only has 1 which is simpler than EVO Leva in design.

Ah_J new company, yes. But the brains behind it (Antonio Nurri) was with Izzo previously and has a lifetime of design (some incredibly innovative) and manufacturing behind him.

You can probably tell by the number of posts here that I’m rabidly excited about this machine. I pre-orderered the day after it became available for pre-orders here in Australia. I love equipment that looks beautiful, is innovative and performs well. This one ticks the first two boxes and the third will hopefully also get ticked in the fullness of time.

I previously has a Nurri VDT and the build quality was solid so that gave me some confidence.

I was asked a question about the paddle functions on HB, so I thought I should reproduce my answer here.

The current functions are.

Right hand paddle = Pull to run the pump. I use this to flush the group (but it may have other uses in future). Currently if the pump is adjusted to 9 bar, it could be used to make a shot without using the lever at all.

Left Hand Paddle = vents the group at any time, and resets the shot timer.

Left and Right hand paddle = can be used in conjunction with a blind filter to backflush the group, as the pressure can be vented. Currently this can not be done with any other lever machine.

When the lever is pulled down a microswitch activates the pump…there is no requirement, or maintenance needs for the usual mechanical valve at the rear of the group, simplifying maintenance and increasing reliability.

tompoland But sticking it on all pictures is a bit…too much. I have a few patents myself, if it’s a good enough invention you wouldn’t actually want to state it everywhere. I think the marketing department was a bit too overzealous on that front (to appeal to customers and make them pre-order).

tompoland Basket diameter is same as the Izzo Lever and Vesuvius Evo Leva. Same LSM lever size and fitting.

Has group heaters, so same 15m fast warm up.

tompoland How do you have so much space aha, you get a new espresso machine every time one comes out.

DavecUK We aren’t going to see a difference in shots quality, are we? How would you compare, if you may, this over Evo and Izzo in terms of build quality and added features ?

Would you rate the extra features over Evo are cosmetic or significant, or adds a little more value to the user vs the price?
