So after a 9 month wait, mine finally arrived this morning… except it doesnt work. The motor spins when I turn on the switch, but the on off button does nothing.
I have emailed KD and hope that there is a simple fix. It’s been a long wait and was excited to try it. Guess I am waiting a few more days now.

simonc Sounds like an In Transit problem. Hopefully it passed QC before it was sent and is no more than a loose connection
ive heard of this before, happend to someone else

Sounds like they’ll get it fixed relatively quick. Hopefully just a small hiccup in an otherwise great grinder based on my own experience.
from the marks id say middle , but wait for confrimation

Looks nice and tidy in there 👍 - sure you will be up and running shortly !
Cuprajake I was going to guess left, but you were right. I waited for confirmation… support is amazing, only 20 mins for a reply.
The white plastic behind the blue cable connector is supposed to be attached to the plastic zip tied near the left terminal which is a battery support, but in transit it obviously broke when mishandled. Makes you realise what happens with the couriers.
Now to get on with seasoning the burrs..
Also discovered that cold starting doesnt work for espresso setting.. nothing came out and had to drop 2 notches. But with a hot start all good.
I’ve now put a kilo of beans though to season, Amazon £8/kg and can pour 16g beans in in one go and it grinds fine for espresso.
However the sheet with the grinder says touch point is 9. I think it’s starting to touch at 9.2.
I just ground at 9.5 and a 1:2.8 shot of light roast took just 33 seconds. I’m worried I’ve not got much room to go if I want to grind finer for longer shots or do long preinfusions.
Is this normal with flat burrs or a particular issue with the ND?
I could stall my minima quite happily with my Vario and can do on the Niche (I know it’s conical )

I don’t know what the ND is, but it doesn’t sound as if things are right, the grinder should be able to grind fine enough to get a longer shot than that, even with light beans, especially if you are so close to touching?
Have you had it in bits to clean after seasoning?
Those cheap beans are terrible
Are you weighing in and out?

Most of my light roast shots fall between 25s and 30s. This range is the sweet spot for me on my lever. I always go back to this time range after grinding finer aiming for 35s-40s shots. My typical ratio is 1:2.5.
Maybe ou should align the burrs even though that might not be the problem. Is really simple on the KD.
LMSC fair enough. I have preinfusion on the minima and also flow control so tend to do longer shots.
But regardless of where i end up dialling in for taste I should be able to get fine enough to stall. At the moment I think going to 9.3 might get me to 45 seconds but at risk of touching burrs.
I meant to make sure the burrs were not caked in shit.
