LMSC Yes it works really well, the only thing I dont like is that you need to “fiddle” a little to get everything out, I usually need to turn it on/off or decrease/increase the rpm about three to five times to get everything out. Just takes some seconds so not the end of the world but would of course prefer if everything just came out without doing anything.

that is exactly my experience in terms of retention. I cleaned it once (incl. disassambly of the burrs) after 2 months of use and will never do it again. There was basically nothing i could clean.
also i have absolutely no static. maybe i am a fanboy, but i am just impressed with the grinder. It is quiet, has rpm control, very clean and makes good coffee. Imo much better than DF64. P64 level for half the price.
I couldn’t be happier. Sad, that @powderhorn doesn’t have the same experience. But he should be able to get it solved with the Deva team. They are very nice to deal with.
turning the grinder on/off two to three times is not a big deal for me. much better than having to use bellows.

Tjyven Mine was good from the start, with an input of 20g my first five grinds had an output of 19.9, 20.1, 20.0, 20.0, 20.0.
LMSC It’s what you will see with quite a few single dose grinders, pretty normal for that scenario. You could see even less variation if the 0.1g scales have a larger accuracy/precision than the units they read in.
So, I reckon it must be the beans, What beans do you all use? I have tried a dark French roast, and a medium Columbian. I take it you all must be drinking lights?
i drink medium to dark roasts.

If f the burrs are set at an angle or something similar to what these users do. Otherwise, if the burrs are set flat, there is going to be some retention when the grinder is run the first time after cleaning. No?
powderhorn While I understand if it happens with darker roasts / French roasts, I won’t expect a medium roast to exhibit this behaviour - not oily and unlikely to stick as much as the dark. I remember some early adopters of Solo DF 64 sharing similar experiences elsewhere.
Only had mine for a few weeks and into my second bag now and both have been in the area om medium to medium dark.
If anybody is trying to order one, it looks like they added another run of indiegogo reserve units for Q12023:

Gone some months now and I am curious of what burrs other users prefer. I have tried SSP HU and Mazzers Food Friendly, both are good but I prefer the profile from Mazzer. Almost only drink espresso but you who also drink filter coffee what burrs do you prefer?
Tjyven So far i only have the Stock burrs to play with.. I am really enjoying the output from this grinder, from Workflow to Taste. The espresso flavours are very well balanced/sweet and smooth. Clarity is certainly not its strongest point, but the balance and sweetness easily makes up for it.
Interested for filter using this stock burrs also provides very good brews. The Mazzer style burrs, when used in conjunction with this grinder, outputs very little fines which is very surprising, given the experience i had with other grinders with similar burrs.
I find my Hu SSP give more acidity too

Tjyven My RPM is generally Max at 1200 rpm for espresso and around 200-400 for filter.
Depending on coffee the Max RPM tends to blend the flavours, decreasing alot of harshness for coffee which are of lesser quality or roast. Recently i had a Tim Wendelboe espresso roast which tasted very muted at higher RPM, lowering the RPM brought out the acidity and characteristic of the coffee.
Oops. I’ve just pre-ordered one for Q4
Looks like a interesting grinder - for not crazy money…
I hope so…. another 3 months on, how are people finding it? My budget only stretches to the stock Mazzer SJs
Just seen this on Instagram. Looks like there might be a review of sorts coming soon from this coffee shop that has been lent Brandon’s grinder to use for a bit.
