rytopa Agree, the Mazzer style rally gives a sweet and balanced shot, while the SSP HU gives more clarity. What RPM are you using? With few exceptions I have high RPM (1000-1200) for espresso, but for the rather few times I make filter coffee I have found that lower RPM gives better result.

I find my Hu SSP give more acidity too

Tjyven My RPM is generally Max at 1200 rpm for espresso and around 200-400 for filter.

Depending on coffee the Max RPM tends to blend the flavours, decreasing alot of harshness for coffee which are of lesser quality or roast. Recently i had a Tim Wendelboe espresso roast which tasted very muted at higher RPM, lowering the RPM brought out the acidity and characteristic of the coffee.

rytopa Same experience as me, normally I think high RPM gives the best results but for few coffeys I think that high RPM gives a little muted taste and then the result will be better with lower RPM.

Looks like a interesting grinder - for not crazy money…

I hope so…. another 3 months on, how are people finding it? My budget only stretches to the stock Mazzer SJs

Great. I’m excited, just 6 months to wait!

As I think I have written earlier in this thread the only thing I dont like with the machine is that you need to press on/off a few times to get all the grinds out. Doesnt take long time but still.. And by doing that it is really low retention, usually very close to zero.

The Indigogo campaign has shipped and the retail price is going up from £750 to £1200 at the end of the month in case anyone was considering it, you should order soon.

Also saw this, quite the increase

Will put slot of people off as it’s already hardly talked about

Hitting the top end - lots of choice for that money( or less !)

I bought it when the price was £459+tax and I think that was a really good price but with this new price there are many really good grinders to compete with.

So after a 9 month wait, mine finally arrived this morning… except it doesnt work. The motor spins when I turn on the switch, but the on off button does nothing.
I have emailed KD and hope that there is a simple fix. It’s been a long wait and was excited to try it. Guess I am waiting a few more days now.
