Seems to be a term that’s been totally lost, everything these days is ‘clamp’.
CoyoteOldMan It’s interesting - I’d say ‘sash cramp’, but ‘-clamp’ pretty much everything else (pipe, C/F/G, spring, screw, …)
From what I know, the terms “cramp” and “clamp” are interchangeable in their meaning. But “cramp” is the British term, and “clamp” is what’s used on my side of the Atlantic, unless you’re an Anglophile woodworker.
Bonus woodworking terminology content — in the US, what the Brits refer to as a “G cramp”, we use the term “C clamp”. So apparently we think that the same tool looks like different letters.
