        DavecUK first impressions looking on from afar are positive. Well packed, lighter, smaller, variable speed, timber bits, clever magnetic chute etc.

          This is just too funny. I don’t know anyone else who would have a grinder like this maybe “sitting in the Hall”. Nonchalance personified.

            I have a couple of these machines coming so probably the easiest thing is to set them upside by side with the same original burrs in my grinder lab.

            I can then simultaneously grind, one at the lowest RPM and the other at the highest, and simultaneously poor each one in the 2 ecm puristikas and blind taste test over 3 days.

            My guess is that I won’t detect a clear difference but it’s worth a crack and it will be a very easy method for comparison rather than testing smaller bracketed increments.

            I’m aware that some say there is a difference and some say not.

            I suspect that the difference, if I can detect one, will be greater with light roasted beans than with dark roasted. I do think that roast depth is a definite factor when it comes to comparing results from different burr sets or rpm or anything else to do with grinding the beans.

              On the discord server app a couple people have already had issues, stalling, blown motors and the led dial shorting.

                  Not loads but it does seem to be a theme of this type of grinder where they hit the wild, then revise then revise, I know Dave said there were motor issues with that grinder he tested for bb @DavecUK

                    Certainly one or two not enchanted with DFs generally. Not unusual.

                    My experience of the DF64s is probably different due to having upgraded the portafilter forks, fitting an anit-popcorn bean feeder and Gorilla Gear burrs. Apart from all that I left it completely untouched 😃😄😁

                    Jake if you can find the avatar of the posters with blown engines I would be grateful. Or date/time of posting. I’ve had a look but TBH Discord gives me a headache. Old brain doesn’t work with a hipster app maybe?

                    Reading it again (or trying to), it sounds more like electronics issues rather than blown motors.

                    That was for the little conical and it’s wasn’t motor issues, but gearbox issues with a gear being too thin and jumping off another geat. The motor itself is fine. I have a failed one and when I inspect it will take some photos.

                    The DF64V I have yet to use because I have other time commitments which take priority. We need to be careful not to confuse the two.

                      I currently have the Niche Zero and wanting a flat burr grinder as an alternative .

                      I mainly do espresso medium to darker roasts with chocolatey flavours.

                      DF64v (latest version) with the stock DLC burrs or pay the extra for the SSP HU?

                        Wouldn’t bother with SSP for your given type of bean
