Autumn coming early.

On a local walk around today I was quite surprised to see blackberries already ripe and hazelnuts formed and some dropping off.
Anyone else seen signs of early autumn ??

I think this summer might be set to be a short one…it’s certainly not been as warm as usual. Perhaps the fight against global warming is working?

DavecUK Thats a possible answer Dave, but so is the eco loons only have something to bleat on about when heat events like last summer happen. If last summer was down to climate change, what is their explanation for this year?

Rest of the world is having a heat wave by all accounts, luckily with the UK pushing forward with net zero, were cool, I mean none of us can afford to use electric, cars, etc those of us with mortgages are currently paying that and eating our lawns and said berries above we have foraged

Cuprajake If Europe is suffering a heatwave, then why are we not? I mean, climate change cannot vary from year to year. The damage is either done or it is not…..unless of course it is a made up figment of a collective imagination to hide the real truth about extortion and world domination….ooppss, there I go again!

I suppose if what they said a few weeks ago in that our June was the hottest on record was true, that means summer came early. So, makes sense that all the other seasons have been pushed forward too. By this rate we will be having Christmas in September!😁

DavecUK According to the Met Office and NASA, June 2023 looks like being the hottest on record.

But I’d advise caution rather than just accepting that as fact; my mates aunty Margaret and some of her friends on the internet say that is BS and the weather is just normal - they all seem to have done their homework too, so they probably know just as much as NASA and the Met Office.

I don’t know who to believe, it’s all so complicated.

This is the same problem I had…a few freak days can skew the whole month. I know for a fact this summer is not as hot as last summer, because I have not required the aircon in the loft at all this year!!

Our Manchurian Pears have started to bloom, normally they come out just in time for my birthday in late August.
This has been our driest start to winter in the fifteen years we have been here.
The apple trees haven’t dropped their leaves.

Sure but you know what I mean. If reports of hottest June were actually supplied with some qualifying statement, things would be far better for the ordinary person who doesn’t want to load and process a load of raw data into excel…which they don’t make easy.

There are two ways to obfuscate, either provide little or no data, that’s deceptive, or to overwhelm with raw data.

I know for a fact I’ve not needed the aircon at all so far this year….which means it’s considerably cooler than last year.

But they did report it and reputable scientists have confirmed this. You and others in this thread have implied you don’t believe that, so your options are look at raw data or to talk about feelings and personal anecdotes which is poor data.

Someone asked where they could find the historic temperatures and I supplied that information for UK weather stations.
