Was tidying the workstation this morning ahead of moving to another location. There was a soft 'ticking' noise coming from the machine. So, powered off, ticking still there. Disconnected from mains, moved trolley and ticking still there. Sounded similar to the pointers on an analogue watch. It did eventually stop (maybe someone left an italian watch inside the case when testing) but i'll keep an eye on it. More specifically, an ear. Anyone heard of this before?

@"skylark"#p49600 - when the noise happens, is the machine hot or cold? Does it happens if the machine is plugged in, but it’s cold? If not, then it might be just the machine cooling down, including water in the hoses, fittings, etc.

Back again. Been using the machine this morning, switched it off after cleaning around 4pm and have just had another listen. It still ticks! Like a very soft clock, tick, tock,tick, tock. It's not powered on, feels cold/lukewarm to the touch, the boiler went off at lunchtime so only the machine itself was on to do a weekly backflush. I could maybe ignore it if it was more of an irregular sort of thing but this is definitely as if it has some sort of timer going on, and its switched off, still powered though at the wall. Now then … anyone else 'listened' at all? Why do i doubt it … it's just me then!

Not really. I first heard it when i was reaching for the power plug so i'd guess left hand size as you're looking at the machine. It's a definite regular ticking which i'd not think was indicative of heating up or cooling down contractions. I suppose i'll keep listening for it but as to whether its answerable? Can't say i am aware of it when the machines on but really wasnt aware until yesterday when i thought 'what's that noise' and looking for a clock in the room, why i've no idea cos we aint got one in the kitchen. Anyways, if it gets people listening to their machines then i guess it'll sort itself out soon …

I think mines doing similar thing when service boiler is cooling down. I will pay attention tomorrow.

@"skylark"#p49688 - so, I had to check. Machine was last used in eco mode at 1pm. So it’s completely cooled down, as it’s now 8:30pm. As there are no TVs or noise around now, I went and checked it. And, mate…. You are not going mad! So I unplugged the machine and the noise is still there. I then moved the machine somewhere else, and, to my surprise, the noise is still there. If I am to put a place, it’s the LCC. Just put your ear over it. I can hear quite clearly. The frequency is a tick every 5 or 6 seconds or so. It’s very faint, I can’t hear unless I put my ear right on it. It’s a very similar sound to my wrist watch second hand. Sorry folks, old fashioned guy here, no smart watch… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Could anyone with an Elizabeth check and report back? Thanks! @"Cuprajake"#144 , what about the Bianca? If you put your ear over the LCC when the machine is cold, do you hear a tick?

Yay!! That's exactly it, I'm not imagining things then. Just checked again and its been off for some 5hrs now and i can here it from a distance of about 18", loudest at or around the front top'ish, more central than not. Still ticking, not as regular as before so maybe about to sleep ….. battery operated Lelit Lizzie, there's a novelty.

DavecUK my wife turned the machine on already in the morning I couldn’t check it, but it has been 4hrs since it’s turned off and now ticking like a clock hahaha. I also unplugged it. I don’t get this :)

Mine hasnt ben on at all today and … no ticking, surprise surprise but tomorrow i expect to be able to hear it from around 18″ distance. Now I’m not claiming to have mega powers when it comes to hearing but its as MRS describes, like a swishing analogue watch . Strange that it doesnt seem to unwind itself for a good few hours after powerdown. It definitely doesnt sound like a boiler or internals cooling down but i suppose that’ll be how things will be accepted …. i’m not too worried about MY machine now that others can confirm my findings. Cant speak for others who may have way more enquiring minds than me ….

MediumRoastSteam - as reported above, doesn’t seem to tick away when the machine is on. So I turned the machine off (while hot) and tried to hear it out. No ticking.

I tried both Dave. Off and Off Off. :-)

PS: Looking at some pictures, looks like the machine does have a DTDP (Dual Pole Dual Throw switch) or at least a DPST (Dual Pole Single Throw) switch.

Inspector If it’s ticking like a clock when unplugged….it must be mechanical and heat related, otherwise I can’t explain it. There isn’t really a power source of any note within it? Perhaps a small cap keeping the RTC going….if it’s got one. Not sure it has.

skylark Resurrecting this one…did your ticking stop? Mine started about a month ago and i cannot pin point the location, other than maybe the back left of the unit.
As soon as i switch the machine on, ticking stops!

How exactly do u switch it on?

DavecUK I have had it on a smart switch, so the machines power switch is ‘always on’ and I simply press the smart switch button on/off or the schedule will turn it on/off automatically.

I’ve just unplugged it from mains and will see what happens over the next 24 hours.

soundwave1 - :-) - If you go by reading experiences in the thread (including mine), most likely the ticking will be there. :-)

soundwave1 Heres the tests you can do and do you use a euro plug converter, or dies it have a UK 3 pin plug.

With machine on and warmed up

switch off machines switch (does it tick)
switch off at smart plug (does it tick)
switch off at mains socket switch (does it tick)
unlug (does it tick)

repeat these with the machine cold

Doing those tests will pinpoint any problem

normal ticking of metal as it cools down
possible live neutral reversal in machine, smart plug, wall socket, euro to 3 pin adaptor
supernatural activity
