Hi all,

I am new to coffee. Sorted myself a grinder and espresso machine (used Fracino Cherub and Eureka Mignon Facile) but am on the look out for an second grinder that my wife will be happy to use for Aeropress in the morning.

I had initially hoped I could use the Eureka for both, but with dialing in still somewhat a challenge as a newcomer to the world of espresso I’d prefer to leave that alone rather than attempting to switch back and forth.

What grinder can be reccomended for Aeropress, with a budget of say up to around £150?

I’ve been considering the Baratza Encore, the Wilfa Svart and a used grinder I’ve seen, a Sage Smart grinder pro.

Anything else I should consider? Thank you in advance

Treat yourself to a nice hand grinder.

Hi. Thanks for the feed back.

I’d prefer electric, I’ve got a Hario Skerton which has put me off, incredibly slow and not at all fun. Besides, my wife wouldn’t entertain having to hand grind each morning….

If it’s just for brew methods the Fellow Ode is brilliant.

If you can stretch the budget slightly I’d recommend the v2 as it drastically improves the static related mess. I use one exclusively for brew and have been very happy with it.

Thanks for the feedback. Found a used Fellow Ode v1.1 on another forum, hopefully this will do the trick. Couldn’t stretch to the V2 unfortunately.

May have added some SSP burrs from the same seller…..should grind as good as, if not better than a V2, minus the hopper and some static…

Honestly the 1.1 burrs have been great for me. We got a 1.1 at work and honestly the SSP MP are good but I don’t know if they are worth the extra money in the ode

I’ll try the stock burrs first and see how it goes, then swap in the SSP to try with the same bag of beans.

All the research I have found have said that V1.1 to SSP was a good upgrade….if it isn’t I can always move on the SSP..

We use it mainly for batch brews but also for aeropress and v60. I also own an ode v2 at home that I use for everything brewed

How do the V2 burrs compare to the V1.1 out of interest?

Honestly there aren’t all that different, apart from the V2 can go finer. Maybe a slightly better cup from the v1.1 but not that much different
