Somehow I missed the news about the ACS Falcon 1. It certainly looks like an an intriguing unit. I’m curious though if this is intended to replace the aging ACS Vesuvius, or if the team there intends for the Falcon 1 to address a different target audience. Any thoughts?

Will it have a solenoid group?

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

    Cuprajake - as Dave said in the Host thread, the plan is to have a solenoid group and a traditional E61 one (lever operated).

    Will it be a replacement for the Vesuvius? I didn’t get that impression. I might be wrong.

        DavecUK Thanks Dave. I was just trying to understand their product positioning logic here, and if not a replacement, the gap that they are trying to fill.

            DavecUK How are the pressure profiles going to be run with a rotary pump? Or is it going to be a flow profiling machine? My impression has always been that one needs to have a gear pump to be able to run different pressure profiles.

            Current setup: ACS Vesuvius, Nuova Simonelli Mythos One. Past experience, Nuova Simonelli Apia 1 gr., San Remo Capri 1 gr., Bezzera BZ 35e, Fracino Heavenly. Anfim Super Lusso.

                It’s not a pressure profiler, although that’s not to say you can’t put a paddle on it. It will however do different preinfusion pressures, bloom phases etc.. Plus a lot of software features, so ir you add a paddle it will be like a Bianca+

                I hope to get the prototype to do an overview and also tune the machine, as it has an actively heated group. I have worked a bit on the software with Paolo, but getting one will actually make it easier to ask for improvements/changes.

                      DavecUK I actually didn’t pick up the fact that it was not a pressure profiling machine, so that fact makes more sense to the viability of this as different offering from them.
                      I can appreciate some of the innovation they are doing, so my questions are not meant to cast doubt on their motives, but rather to better understand them. I still love my Vesuvius to no end, although it would be fun to see an update to it (cloud connected firmware updates, better interface, etc.).
