Tl;dr their was a wire that was not lose but was the cause in the main chamber not the side panel. I nudged all the wires and I suspect it was the lower water wire or the top pump wire.

Good stuff: its clean from inside and easy to work with.

Bad stuff: if you are alone removing the bottom side screws is hell.

Its bad that this happened to me in the first week.

Thanks

LMSC yep, i used the hot water tap to make the boiler fill all seems in order. Lets hope its that.. thanks for following up btw

Berryterry I’d sort of feel better if the wire had been loose somewhere…I’m suspecting it’s a loose wire to spade connection. If it goes bad again, you may have to remake it…fortunately it’s a low voltage circuit, but of course that means it carries more amps…that said, it’s only about 2 amps or so.

Had it been the tank water sensor, you would have got a low water alarm (I think, because the Alpha didn’t have a water alarm at all)

Berryterry Glad it is all sorted. Enjoy making lovely coffee with Evo and share your experiences.

        Happy New Year!

I have a similar problem and thought I’d post on this thread. I got my machine a while back (I was actually one of the buyers of the first or second batch of machines shipped), but due to unfortunate circumstances I just now got around to unpack and set it up. The machine turns on, the pump makes a buzzing sound as if working, but it does not draw any water from the tank. After a while the machine gives an AL.10 error. This is the situation from the first time I turned it on. The small lever mentioned above does touch the big one. The water level sensor seems to work, since pulling it out of the water triggers a AL.11 error. I opened up the machine and do not see any loosened wires or bent tubes. I have tried the suggestions in this thread, but to no avail. The only thing that I have not tried is to attempt to prime the pump manually, since I am not sure how to remove the water filter safely. I contacted Paolo, he suggested to try and turn on the machine with the levers down, in case the pump and the boilers (?) had some air inside. This did not help either. The only thing that is perhaps of note is that the two lights on the left of the front panel of the machine do not light up.

        Any suggestions?

The pump can sometimes be a bugger to prime. With machine off at switch, pull lever down. Then use switch to start/stop pump and follow process below.

Pull of the gauze filter on inlet tube, squirt some water down it to fill the pump chamber as the pump is running. When it picks up, stop pump, fill the tube with water, pop gauze filter on and drop it in full tank.

Thanks, I will try it as soon as I get home!

vkapoulas The A10 is the service boiler fill.

I wonder if there is any loose contact with the pump. Does the pump work if you flush some water through the group ?

If the middle tube on the tank is at a similar level to the left-most tube, you might have a problem. Could you raise the middle tube well clear of the left tube and check again ?

            Thx

Just in case, pop a vid (with sound) up unlisted on YT and link to it here. I am making the assumption the pump is running normally…but it would be better if I heard it.

            It worked!

I followed Dave’s instructions and the pump primed, quite easily actually.

Thanks a lot for the help! My first results :-)

@Eiffel Possibly a hint for the unofficial FAQ as it seemed to have worked?

              • LMSC replied to this.

DavecUK Agree. It’s good if @Eiffel can keep it updated.

Another one, which requires updating (if not already done) is the discussions on the lever shaft damages and the loosening of the two bolts.

                All updated! 😉

The bit on the lever shaft damage was already in the FAQ, but it remains tentative as we’re waiting to hear from Paolo and his supplier for a complete resolution.

If you make a single post with the link the the FAQ and 1 Paragraph describing it, I will lock it and pin it to the top of the lever machines section. This gives people a second way to find it.

Update: i had the issue again, Opened the top. Touched all connections to check them. All seemed oki. Machine didn’t work. I waited it to cool down and turned it and it worked. I suspect now its an overheating issue. Any idea DavecUK ?

                    Thanks

Can you just clarify exactly what happened, I don’t want to make the assumption the pump just won’t work and yet does when it cools down? which I believe was the problem? I seem to remember there wasn’t a “satisfying” resolution to me, for the problem, as it just started working again when you moved wires about?

I think you definitely need to let ACS know so they can log the problem.
