Actually the LSM group has the purge as well as the heater cartridges in the group - are both a Cortese idea ? If so why are they not proprietary and who would modify the castings and manufacture for such small quantities ?

What of Nurri he is also using the purge !

I dont know!!

I still think the video with nurri and the german guy is so funny!!

About Me

The groups are modified in house at acs

The nurri had the purge first but his is a very basic way of doing so

The flush button mechanically operates a solenoid to vent were the acs uses pressure to do the same thing

The lsm group makes great coffee, esp with the heaters in it.

Add to that the stability of the dual boiler and the ability to plan

@selmerfudd what coffee and roast type do you drink

As for the decent they have machines setup for constant testing, both are over 100k shots,

The decent for me so far has been faultless since day one, my Evo 2 broke in 2 hrs

So the argument of it not lasting is a bit of a kick in the balls imo,

I’d hazard a guess there’s more decents in the wild that acs and nurri combined

The machine is just a tool, as is the grinder, friends have the same duo as me but our grind settings are different even on the same number, so if your decent says 83c and you like the taste and it’s repeatable, what’s it matter if that 83c is in real world 86c? As long as you can repeat it

You really have no idea what machines are doing unless you scace them and I’ve never seen an Evo or nurri scaced before either.

Grinder plays way more importance than the machine for mouth feel. Imo

That’s why I have a zero and duo

Rest of it is just white noise

@dfk my evo2 cost the same as my decent. 👍

    Fyi

I’ve had lots of brand new machines and half of them faulty

    Crem profiler- faulty

    Londinium lr24 - faulty

    Acs evo2 - faulty

I have very high standards when it comes to spending my hard earned

I am not a light roast guy - full city roast is where i lean to , Lionshare , is my favorite coffee- A few years back I had a pound of Tchembe roasted by a Boston roaster called Barrington , it was wonderful , Sicilian blood orange front with deep fig and chocolate finish . Cant find it anywhere nor afford it now the very scanty offerings have skyrocketed in price ! Was 30/lb now more like 100/lb

Any suggestions as to coffee roasters and blends ?

Depends where your based I suppose

That’s a medium roast through the decent so you can get great mouth feel

The beauty of a lever is it’s profile, it’s super forgiving then you add the 54mm basket, which I also think makes a big difference, it all helps

I loved my lever, it’s a shame the evo2 just didn’t work for me like it should, it really soured the experience

Im guessing he wasnt on a day trip to skegness passing bye the Boston roaster!!!

      About Me

      Cuprajake

You have a 1.45- that headspace has been reduced to E61 ballpark , I could never on my Decent reproduce the mouthfeel of my first prosumer the Duetto 1 - even though I exclusively used a lever profile somehow the Decent fell short for me !

But i do miss the small footprint and the fact that very few visitors will comment on it , its non obtrusive and quite sober looking especially of the tablet does not sit up top ! !

Maybe someone can help here !

I removed the shower screen for the first time hardly any coffee deposits on it , really nice and clean !

The screw holding it in place is quite short ,,looks like a longer screw that has been chopped - anyone know the type of screw it is , what is the thread type ,and ideal length - I want to replace it with an allen or torx or maybe robertson head ,, i am always leery of philips head screws !

      thx

selmerfudd I want to replace it with an allen or torx or maybe robertson head ,, i am always leery of philips head screws !

Just leave it as it is, it doesn’t exactly have to be put in really tight.

          selmerfudd

Its stainless and cut to length to be flush in the cylinder.

Why would you want to change it!

          About Me

Adrianmsmith some days ago you took delight telling us you are an engineer.

Not from this planet! Not asking questions like that.

          • software engineer
          • environmental engineer
          • electronic engineer
          • civil engineer
          • biological engineer
          • chemical engineer
          • mechanical engineer
          • etc

Not all of them necessarily know how to use the right screw size…

          But I get your point…. 🙈

            Adrianmsmith

Thank you , very helpful - all screw nomenclature is universal and standard even here in the great white north

But Adrian did anyone ask you in a derogatory tone , why you drilled an extra hole in the piston? ( because you wanted to that’s all ) i on the other hand will not be drilling holes but want to replace the Phillips screw with a Torx because i want to - thats all !!

And if you must know I am a retired electronic engineer ( mainly designing circuits and controls for supervisory control systems used in Hydro Dams ) - very little on hand mechanical work , all theoretical and conceptual !! I never used a lathe , drill press or any other such apparatus except a hand drill , and a socket set ! i do not modify machines neither do I build my own golf clubs !

            now you know

              DavecUK

hi Dave I guess i can , but Phillips screws make me nervous especially where this one is

Even Decent went Torx route after many users stripped the Phillips in their group - also not needing to be very tight

                DavecUK

I understand shearing them will not be easy ! And they will resist stripping - I get it !
