One less cord and more convenient. I’ll take the battery, no problem.

mackerel ah yes, now i see you did. I just copied the video link and pasted it here. Luckily it displayed as a video.

powderhorn The best marketing is word of mouth. Normal people just using it and showing it to friends. Especially if you cannot scale up manufacturing.

@DavecUK It’s a typical 3Cell Lipo battery…. Taking measurements to upgrade it to double the capacity if possible. Replacement is basically putting the machine on it’s side, taking out 5 Allen screws, pulling the battery out and just unplugging it.

To be honest… 3S 5000mah battery rated at 20C gives out around 100amps or 30c max peak which translates to 150amps…. Gotta look at the motor to see if it’s doable conversion.

Edit: Battery used

As an update, Took the deva to the office (Since we mostly drink filter brew there) and after a full week of daily doing 3-4 72g batchs on it… it barely lost 25% of it’s battery capacity.

I’d say this is the best looking to have come out for some time ☺️

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

After chatting with some folks on Espresso Afficionados discord who own or have been testing the Kickstarter Kopi Deva, I’m starting to wonder if I should cancel/refund my Indiegogo Kopi Deva order.

Latest thoughts on workflow and retention for this machine?

wow, too stupid to operate a coffee grinder and blame it on the grinders’ design, lol.

So, i try to give some info.

The opening could be bigger, but the deva comes with a shovel that feeds the beans very well.

Then, the design of the grinder is described this way: “Our patent pending design creates a small pressure difference between the burr chamber and the exit chute, encouraging air flow through the grind path to help the pursuit of zero retention.”

That makes all grounds fall out of the funnel after grinding. No bellows needed. That is explained on the Deva page. You can also see it in the video

Absolutely insane to see that as a con against the grinder. I absolutely love it. It is the cleanest grinder i have ever used.

If you do not want it, i would take it as a friend of mine wants one badly after having used mine.

ez4prez well the campaign has closed so a refund/cancellation isn’t guaranteed. you’ll have to ask them directly and wait upon a decision.

mackerel I agree and the criticism is somewhat amusing, too. “The grinder sounds like a$$ when running..” which begs the question, what is the best a grinder could sound? No sound at all? Now that would be cool. A few folks have mentioned the grinder is pretty quiet which would be a benefit.

Sounded fine in the video… I even think the funnel is good in that it’s easier to clean than most grinders’ chutes. The point about beans sticking still concerns me though. Just don’t wet the beans? But the creator does it in many of the demo videos…

Do you wet your beans before feeding @mackerel ?

From a previous user of a sette 270 and a current owner of a niche… the deva is just delicious to use.

Hell… I am single dosing 72g each batch at work. Basically keep feeding the little sucker until you empty your cup and never had beans sticking inside even with RDT.

I am starting to think people basically immerse their beans in a cup of water prior to grinding them.

those complaints seem rather made up to an actual user of the Deva.

          Can’t take that serious.

Hmm very tempted to enquire about the discord user’s offer to sell now… especially with p64’s being hard to find used and having long lead times…

            hthec

Person considering selling lives in the SF Bay Area of California and goes by discord handle baleong#2299, but if you’re in the UK that might not work. They also prefer their P64 which they readily admit is 2x the price. So go figure.

Frankly, I’m not sure what to make of these wildly divergent opinions. Ugh. Maybe I’ll just keep my order and if I wind up in the camp of people who aren’t thrilled with it, then resell it. But I certainly hope for my sake that I’m as delighted as you all are.

I have the Lagom P64 at almost 3x the price of the Kopi Deva.
