I see Skuma is now available to order on the site.
Are there any reviews yet?

SkumaWater Might want to remove or reword this:

    Coffee balance

    • Brews the perfect cup with hot purified water
    • Prevents scaling and corrosion build-up on machines
    • Reduces coffee acidity and reveals authentic coffee taste

Assuming you want to avoid being held responsible for people scaling up and breaking their machines after using it only with your ‘coffee balance’ formula. If you want to deceive people and get away with it, take a cue from water filter suppliers and use terminology such as “helps reduce”, though that can’t be used in this case as people could be supplying the skuma with tap water that is less likely to scale in less time. “Helps to control sale build-up and corrosion” would be accurate as the Skuma is supplying consistent remineralised water to the coffee machine, so definitely controls things. So long as there’s calcium and magnesium with carbonate hardness you’ll get scale eventually in a service boiler without intervention. If the remineralisation bottles also add chloride and sulfate, you can also get stress corrosion cracking and microbiologically induced corrosion from sulfate reducing bacteria with stainless steel and brass/copper boilers respectively…..again, nothing wrong with saying the Skuma “controls” this.

    Hi @Rob1,

Really thanks for the pointers - we will update the website tonight!

    Cheers,

Penance I am interested too, as considering replacing my zero jug finally.

simonc same reason here. I’m guessing they are still not shipping, hence no user experience being shared.

They are definitely shipping, the whatsapp group has quite a few very simplistic reviews from people who seem happy with their units and issues/queries are being dealt with. There were some issues with the initial batch and things not working after shipping, they seem to have a fix for this. They appear to gradually be picking up pace on the remainder of the devices now they have reworked them and done a “slow start” on postage to ensure they are fixed.

I did order one from the website (i.e. after the crowdfunder) and am looking forward to mine arriving, although I’m not expecting it this month. I have to say I was a little frustrated with the lack of comms (zero updates via email because I bought via the website) but it appears that was an oversight and that there are regular comms with backers.

        Hi @simonc and Penance ,

Long story short: We’d started shipping the units and noticed that a whole lot of issues started appearing due to the units being shipped cargo. We’ve then gone back to the drawing board and addressed all the issues. We are now about 100% of the units but we are currently shipping the units in a controlled way to ensure there are no new issues. We’ve also started selling a few units to maintain some revenue coming into the business.

Heads up a Skuma and 3 infusions, 180litres of water, that’sa lot of espresso, is only £290 today with code SAVENOW.

Almost about to pull the trigger and ask forgiveness from my wife after it arrives. 😂

My unit arrived today, I have set it up and just quickly tested the functions. I realised I didn’t ever order a TDS meter or the drop test kits so I have now purchased those and am awaiting them arriving next week. Initial impressions are that it is relatively easy to use and I can definitely “taste” the difference from tap water to RO to RO+infusion (currently I only have the hydration infusion). I didn’t seem to have the knack of stopping the water in inifite mode or when I’d selected too big a volume for my receptacle(!) I think I need to not press the touch sensitive buttons with the tip of my fingers. I was a little surprised at the temperature reading holding my thermometer (ETI Thermapen) “in stream” when max temperature was selected as it seemed far lower than expected but I will try again with that tomorrow.

cjbailey1 interested to hear your experience with the max temp. The only way I’ll get sign off from my wife (once I’m back on coffee) is if she can have tea with it and so it needs to do close to boiling.

cjbailey1 I received mine yesterday and had the same thing with the max hot water temp. Reach out to Alex, there is a way of increasing it

This is my first foray into moving away from bottled water and I feel good about my decision. So far so good, the ability to switch between pure RO and reminarilised water at the touch of a button is great. I wish I had actually looked at the dimensions as it is fairly large and I’ve already suffered the “and where is that going to live” lecture.

cengland117 . I wish I had actually looked at the dimensions as it is fairly large and I’ve already suffered the “and where is that going to live” lecture.

              😱

              Let’s hope it’s a one-off lecture! 🤣😂

I have this incoming at the end of the month. Any tips or advice you can provide will be gratefully received…..

It’s a bit disappointing that as an original backer and in Phase 2 I’m finding out that retail customers are getting their machines before I’ve got mine.

Had no updates from the team for nearly two months.

Have you joined the whatsapp group? That seems to be where most of the information is. I didn’t get anything prior to joining the group but Alex has been very good with his answers within it.

cjbailey1 I’m in the same position as the original poster in this thread: phase two and no machine. I can’t find the WhatsApp group by searching for sküma. Do you know what it’s called.
