Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -
Cuprajake - fair play! 👍
Ok today I kept the machine on(brew boiler only) for about 1hr haven’t heard any ticking, now it’s cooling down, still nothing. Later today I might try it with service boiler on.

I used to run mainly with brew boiler only, but sometimes I did use the service boiler and don’t remember any unusual noises. I am definitely sure I would have been alerted if anything strange was happening. As machines cool down they can tick, usually it’s not regular though and definitely nothing when cold. There are no components in the LLC that can tick,
I’ll check my machine when I get home tonight. It would’ve been off since 8am. I doubt the tick is related to expansion/contraction of metals though.
Mine was silent this morning.
Ok steam boiler was on and now cooling off been about 1.5hrs, ticking going on about every two seconds but I can only hear it if I put my ear against gauge area :)
Inspector - mine has been off since 8am. Still ticking away every 5 seconds, but same as @Inspector I have to put my ear against gauge area.
Very strange.

Heat and bubbling in the capilliary tube?
Surely there shouldnt be any heat/bubbling left after 12 hours :) Will check mine again in the morning before i switch it on.
DavecUK - yeah, mine has been off since 8am!

Mine hasnt ben on at all today and … no ticking, surprise surprise but tomorrow i expect to be able to hear it from around 18″ distance. Now I’m not claiming to have mega powers when it comes to hearing but its as MRS describes, like a swishing analogue watch . Strange that it doesnt seem to unwind itself for a good few hours after powerdown. It definitely doesnt sound like a boiler or internals cooling down but i suppose that’ll be how things will be accepted …. i’m not too worried about MY machine now that others can confirm my findings. Cant speak for others who may have way more enquiring minds than me ….
skylark - Machine has been off for 24 hours. Checked just now and guess what? It’s still ticking away, at the same frequency.
Go figure…
MediumRoastSteam - as reported above, doesn’t seem to tick away when the machine is on. So I turned the machine off (while hot) and tried to hear it out. No ticking.

MediumRoastSteam Is this off off, or off. Wall socket off (or unplugged) vs switch on machine. I can’t remember if the machine has a DPDT switch or not.
DavecUK Is this off off, or off.
MediumRoastSteam So I unplugged the machine and the noise is still there. I then moved the machine somewhere else, and, to my surprise, the noise is still there.
I tried both Dave. Off and Off Off. :-)
PS: Looking at some pictures, looks like the machine does have a DTDP (Dual Pole Dual Throw switch) or at least a DPST (Dual Pole Single Throw) switch.
