        • Humankind will continue to do this as long as fossil fuels are left! They will burn almost all of it
        • Unless we want to have the lights going out and no industry, Nuclear Power is inevitable.
        • Fusion energy is so far away as to be unlikely. Scientists always quote Qplasma and not Qtotal. They are willfully misleading us, it should be clear why.
        • Our nation can do absolutely nothing to stop this. We need to concentrate on creating a secure energy supply and sustainable quality of life for our kids.

        Theres too much virtue signalling, corporate self interest and lies around the whole green issue. We really need to wake up as a nation and make sensible plans.

            Cuprajake with two young children its on non stop!

            I would put a wash on every 1.5 weeks before the children came along but now it’s almost every day for me too!!I used an electric dryer once when I was in university and said never again (it shrunk my jeans but we were also paying a meter with coins at that time!!) always air dry my clothes

                    You are right. However, the three key take aways from the article aren’t different. He does make it clear what we do now isn’t useful anymore. He was saying we should have taken action in the 1960s and 1970s. 😊

                      Are there any fans of the various guises of heat pumps on here. Does anyone own one? How do they find it? If you want to turn the heating on for that last half hour before you go to bed, what do you do? Why do we have this fixation with following orders from a mob called the Globalists who do not have anyone interests at heart but their own. The older ones of us will remember the power cuts of the 70’s. They were not fun! SO, we have to ditch all fossil fuels in favour of green electricity……when are the masses going to wake up to this con!
                      The earth has been around for about 4.5 billion years, and let us say climate change or whatever it is labelled say 50. So we have undone and ruined the earth in that 50 year period, despite it metamorphosing through many periods or ages……very convenient (for some)

                        We have been there before mate! The deterioration of the climate situation is all scientifically proven. Some one posted a few scientific threads shared earlier. Many of us will never agree. That’s fine. :-)

                        I agree all these greens, solar, heat pump and so on won’t solve the problem. Period.

                        We should have acted 50-70 years ago. We ignored because organisations and countries in this part of the world had put their commercial interests before the environment. Fast forward, we are now saying net zero by 2050. The other parts of the world are saying sorry, we hear you; we are growing, the fossil fuel is the most economical route (what ever may be the reason); and, we would like to adopt net zero, reduce it gradually but not eliminate by 2050

                        The efforts by the countries like the UK in the net zero space are not even a drop in the ocean. But, we will succeed in dragging every down except those who will be very busy lining up their pockets 24 × 7.

                          We’ve got Hive to control the heating but I’ve been thinking about getting some of their smart TRVs (turn down/off bedrooms during the day for example). Anyone have experience of these or similar? Are they worth it? They are quite expensive, so wonder what, if anything, I could save long term from using them.

                          Does it even make sense to have the heating off in different rooms at different times of the day? Without meticulously closing every door in the house at all time (not going to happy with young kids around), would it end up a bit of a false economy?

                            Bicky We used to have hive system and please with it do decided to get smart radiator valves for all 13 radiators and regret it. They take long time to open up and start heating - even ¾ minutes. Had issues with automatically changing temperature and switching off during boost.

                            since replaced with Tado with valves and they are so much better. Radiators get hot almost immediately and had no issues since.

                                  i think its a total con this quarterly review, they say they can react to raises and falls, but we all know it wont fall, what it will be is a o shit reaction to the 80% increases we are seeing, and will be 15% each time
