Someone has to do this! I am not really into receiving gifts at Xmas. I have virtually everything I need or want. I saw an advert for a Ninja Keep Cup and thought it looked interesting so asked one of my sons if that would be ok. Knowing how Xmas is an expensive time I sent him £20 towards it. He then rang and said he was going out and needed to order within the next 2 hours to guarantee Xmas delivery so I ended up buying it, sending him £20, then yesterday lending him another £20 to put into someones card…..The Keep Cup looks really well made and works with both hot and cold drinks, so I look forward to using it!

What is your best/worst gift then?

I think you can guess from my name tag which footy team I support…. Many years go my late brother’s wife (unbeknown to him) bought me for Christmas a toiletries set…talc (shows how long ago it was) shaving foam etc… All with the Southampton football club logo on!

For those of you who do follow football, that is like giving a Man City Supporter for Christmas a Man United top. For those of you who do not follow or support a footy team, that is like inviting Dave on here round for a coffee and giving him Nescafé with Coffeemate.

I am a week away from being officially a pensioner, and both me and my other half still love Christmas even though we never had any kids. Not the religious side as we don’t go there, but just the joy of giving (and receiving) presents that not have just been asked for or hinted at but the thoughtful surprise ones.

Then we also love the food, both the preparation and of course the eating. We do push the boat out and spend a bit more on the meat and I have to admit, this year it has been by far the best Christmas dinner we have had…. Worth every penny, with loads left over for days to come.

Boxing Day bubble and squeak with plenty of cold meats and pickles… my other halve’s favourite.

Thankfully my family know better than to try coffee related gifts 🤪

I only have myself to blame for that!!

    About Me

My Brother-in-Law got the highs and lows of Christmas gifting.

We bought him an XBox, extra controller, battery packs, the works. Over the moon he was.

He excitedly set it up, got ready to install his favourite game, only to remember he lives in the furthest South West where the internet speed quickly squashed any hopes of Christmas Day gaming…

I received similar Chrissy presents except that I had the pleasure of watching The Studmistress open hers.
We are of an age that we have virtually everything we want and if there is something we need we buy it.
She does love opening presents though so she got : chocolate, cigarette lighters, a toy Tasmanian Devil and a compressed air retracting hose reel.
She got a battery powered chainsaw last year and a zero turn mower a month ago and my compressor has become “our compressor” so she needed the reel. :)

A few years ago when I was still working, a couple of the younger ladies asked me what I had bought her for Christmas.
She got a bull, a very special bull.
They were aghast, “What did you really get her?”.
She loved that bull dearly and he was all she wanted.
She already has a dressing room over full with clothes, shoes, jewellery etc.
She has no desire to travel or to go out other than monthly dinners with friends and even the little Tassie devil knick-knack is really just a dust catcher.
